Poem 10: The Morning Shift

Coffee dregs,

Bitter taste,

Condensation coating

Early grey mornings

And flickering lampposts –

Wide-eyed bleary

Orange stare,

Drowsy town,

Shuddering trains,

Slow air,

Soft songs,

Dull headaches,

Tired eyes,

Another case –

Surprise, surprise.
