• Rosie's POV •

Eleanor and I stood in front of the young couple we found in the supermarket. The girl was standing behind her husband in fear, as he had given us a look of bravery. They both looked quite young.

"We don't intend on hurting you. We're just here for supplies." Eleanor started calmly. We had spent the past hours running away and we were dirty and hungry.

"How do we know that?" The guy asked defensively. "For all we know, you could take what we have and kill us."

Eleanor rolls her eyes. "Look, we'll be out of your hair soon, okay?" she pauses, looking at me for a second. I nod. She wanted to get the sandwiches on the shelf behind them.

"Move." Eleanor orders. The look on her face shows pure frustration and annoyance.

The guy slowly backed away pulling his wife, with him protectively. I kinda felt bad that we were intimidating them. Eleanor stepped forward and grabbed four chicken sandwich packs and put it in the backpacks we found a while ago.

The guy and his wife watched us as Eleanor and I grabbed a bunch of supplies we'd need. I also found more comfortable clothes which i'll change into later.

"Do you think we should take these, just in case?" I yelled over to Eleanor holding up paracetamol tablets.

"Yeah," I heard her reply.

I got whatever I needed and went to Eleanor who was picking pocket knives. "Do you even know how to use knives on... those things?" I ask her.

"If i can throw knives at training dummies, I think i can do the same for the infected." She shrugs.

"The Infected?"

"Yeah. That's what i'm calling them. They are infected after all,"

We both made sure not to carry too much stuff, because it would be hard to run in defense, if necessary. After getting everything needed for survival, we were about to leave when the guy spoke up again.

"Wait, don't leave yet." He says.

El and I turn around, "Why not?" I say.

"Where will you go?"

"I don't know. Someplace." Eleanor tells him before walking out.

"We do have a place for you here! It's not safe out there. Besides, you two only look like kids." He said.

"It's not safe anywhere. And our age isn't your business." Eleanor laughed.

Eleanor looks at me and then we start walking away from the supermarket. Making allies could be a good thing, but it doesn't seem important to her.

But i'm just gonna stick with what she thinks. She's good at these kind of things because of her dad and i'm lucky to still even be alive because of her.

I'm grateful to have her as my best friend.

Back on the move, Eleanor suddenly stopped in her tracks, looking to me.

"Do you think leaving them was a good thing?" She asks me.

"I don't know. Maybe we could go back for them. Make a team?" I tell her honestly. "It's your decision. Do what's best."

"I'm going back. Will you be okay here?"

I nod, then she sighed and ran back to the supermarket, leaving me here. It was too quiet and I was honestly terrified. My biggest fear right now, is being alone. Especially in this cruel world.

I sat down on the ground waiting for Eleanor to come back, though staying alert for any of the infected that could be around.

The virus had somehow got here and spread like wildfire throughout the night. It was scary. There could be hundreds of thousands of the infected by now.
