some nights before

The group had a barbecue going on up in the rooftops. Roi and Gilinsky cooked meat and some other foods on the grill just outside the conservatory, and inside was the others. Santo and Johnny's Sleepwalk continued to play in the background, as the rest danced or sat in peace together. It was a moment to cherish.

Eleanor and Ethan embraced each other as they moved along to the rhythm, so did Jack and Nicole.

"You curled your hair," Gilinsky spoke gently, as he lifted a finger from where his hand was placed on Cass' back to her blonde golden locks.

"Yeah. Never tried it before," she blushed. He smiled at her, telling the girl she looked beautiful. She internally swooned. Cassandra really liked Gilinsky and she was never going to forget this special moment with him. He is her first ever crush.

"Yo guys. Come sit," Lance called to those who were stood, waving his chicken skewer. They all sat in a circle by the fireplace in the roof conservatory and very old songs played, shouting nostalgia. Lance and Marco moved the food to the middle of the circle for everyone's reach and everyone began to eat and chat.

"I'll feed little Jack his fruit," Grayson offered Jack because the father seemed to be struggling. The baby was often fed mashed milky bananas, it was his favourite and he ate it fast.

"Thank you," Jack laughed, handing over his son to Grayson and began to eat his own food.

"Hey little guy." Grayson smiled and Rosie watched when he started to feed him. She loved Grayson very much and hoped that the two of them would have children of their own in the future, in a safe place. Rosie didn't know, but, Grayson felt the absolute same way, he wanted to raise a whole family with that woman. The couple were perfect together and no body begged to differ.

Ethan had Eleanor's head on his lap and he admired her features while she ate her food. He was so deeply in love with this girl that everytime he sees her face, he remembers their first meeting and what he immediately thought of her. Even though his plan was to actually threaten her for some survival goods,  he fell in love during that encounter instead. He knew that he would get the girl he needed, and he did.

"Okay every one, listen up." Lance spoke, getting everyone's attention. "I love y'all. So much. I never want to lose a single one of you, we've been through so much together and we're stronger than ever... you know, I remember the first time I came along to this group; and basically, Marco and I were fighting in a fucking alley, over a sandwich."

Everyone laughed. Jack, Nicole, Eleanor and Rosie replayed the moment in particular in their minds.

"We had no food, since the whole shit started because we stress ate what we had in one night. And we had A LOT. Eleanor came over, warning us of a herd as she held her hand against my mouth. I dropped the damn sandwich! I flipped Eleanor over and held my dagger to her neck, then Rosie came. If she didn't, I probably would have killed El." Lance explained.

"Damn." Eleanor frowned, laughing soon after.

"Marco's dumb ass stood there frozen, then our newlyweds came round. We waited for the herd to pass, and blah blah, ya know. What I'm trying to say, is that, all of you here? I appreciate you, man. I would sacrifice myself for y'all. I really would. That's how much you guys mean to me, till death do us part ya feel. To us," Lance finished, sniffing and then raising his beer; and if you couldn't tell, he was drunk. But he meant every word he said. Everyone else leaned over and clinked bottles, laughing and smiling, repeating "to us" after him.
