Tallulah and Willow had decided to go to Petco and buy some stuff for Sirius. Willow had soon learned that this was a horrible idea. Lulu had managed to get distracted by the tennis balls. "Why in the world do we need pink Tennis balls? Isn't yellow enough? Why do they need to make very color of the rainbow? Aren't dogs color blind?"
Willow rolled her eyes, "Just grab a yellow one; and no, dogs aren't color blind. That's a myth, they simply can't see colors as vibrantly as humans can. But if you were to compare a human's ability to see color with-say a mantis shrimp- then you'd find that we don't see color well either."
"God Willow your such a nerd," Lulu threw a tennis ball into the shopping basket Willow had balanced on her lap. "Where do you even learn this this stuff?"
"I read."
"I know Moron."
Willow's eyes scanned over the tanks full of animals, "I feel sorry for them, you know?"
"Why?"
"Some of these animals may never find homes, they may live their entire lives and then die in these cramped enclosures."
"If it bothers you don't look."
"Lulu looking away from something doesn't make it stop. The problems still there, and by looking away, your just as guilty as the people responsible," Willow said softly.
"Yeesh, Sorry. Let's just finish up shopping for the dog."
They made their was through the aisles in silence, until Lulu picked up a leash that had the design of Captain America's shield. "If we got this, do you think Steve would kill us?"
"Let's not but say that we did."
"Alrighty Roo," Lulu tossed a camouflage leash into the basket instead. "Bucky still has no clue where we got the name?"
"Nope. He's got better things to do than watch anime at 3 am."
"What is better than watching anime?"
"Saving the world."
"Ugh."
"Let's go ahead and check out, that parrot is giving me a dirty look," Willow steered her wheelchair towards the front of the store.
"Hey, you can read minds, what are the animals thinking?"
"That bird is wanting to peck your eyes out."
"No. Seriously?"
"I don't know. As far as I know I only read humans, and I'm not about to start testing my abilities in the middle of a Pet Store."
"Okay, Easy there Debbie Downer."
