Shattered Thoughts: Book Three (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier)

Chapter 21

   "How'd ya sleep Steve?" Lulu asked as Steve walked slowly into the kitchen,.

"Fine Thanks," Steve mumbled, rubbing the back of his head, "Listen guys, about what happened yesterday. I'm sorry for causing a fuss."

Bucky interrupted him, "Steve, it's fine buddy. Crap happens. Believe me, I know that better than most."

"Yeah," Willow agreed, "You should have seen him the first time Lulu thought it was a good idea to shove ice down the back of his shirt."

"It's was glorious," Lulu said, tossing a spoon at Willow.

"So what's the plan Steve?" Falcon asked, "I'm not trying to be insensitive dude, but we can't hide here for the rest of our lives."

"I'm trying to contact Director Coulson, we need to find out where he is and explain what's going on. This Agent Barrow that Lulu talked about is only the temporary head of SHIELD."

 Willow glanced at Lulu, then sent her a telepathic message; You didn't tell Steve that you killed him. Why?

It wasn't necessary information. All he needed to know was that Barrows took over.

How is the fact that he's dead no necessary?!

Because someone just like him will take over, and I'll kill them too. Then we'll put Coulson back as director.

 Why did you kill him?

He knew Willow. He knew everything, and he had the only copy of the file. The idiot brought it in with him, I torched the file and then took care of him. I didn't want him to tell the others, so I did what I thought was right to protect us.

 Willow reached under the table and squeezed her friends hand, Thank you Lulu. I could never have asked for a better best friend. 

 So Bucky doesn't know?

He knows, I told him a few months ago. He took it surprisingly well. But I don't think the other Avengers would be as understanding.

 Agreed. 

 "Girls!," Steve said, bringing the girls attention back to the planning. "Are either of you listening?"

"Yes Steve, please go on," Lulu smirked. 

 Willow noticed Bucky giving her a strange look, and she had a feeling that he knew she and Lulu had been holding a completely separate conversation. 

"Sounds like a solid plan, Willow and I are gonna go make a plan of our own that will actually work," Lulu said, and not waiting for Willow's permission grabbed the handles of Willow's wheelchair and steering her out of the room.

 "Lulu, It's a good thing I was ready to leave or you'd be dead."

"I know Willy."
