Kaylee POV
"Kaylee, where you at?!" I heard Chris say as our apartment door closed. "I'm in the bathroom, Chris." I sighed. I heard his footsteps approach the bathroom until he appeared in the doorway.
"What you doing?" He asked. "I am washing my face, what does it look like?" I said in a smart tone. Expecting an argument, I got a laugh instead, which caught me by surprise. Usually when I get an attitude with him, he'd yell or something.
"Whatever, Kay. I got some good news, though."
I dried my face off. "What is it?"
"I bought us a house."
I looked at him. "Chris, why did you do that? Did you use the money out of our joint account?"
"I mean, no, but I did have to borrow at least $300 out of it."
"Damn, baby! Why didn't you tell me first?"
"Kay, it's only $300."
"Yeah, out of our account!"
"Look, I don't know why you makin' an argument out of this, but it's not that big of a deal."
I sighed as I pushed past him to go to the kitchen. "Whatever, Chris. How much did the house cost?" I asked as I grabbed a water bottle and began to drink it.
"About $35,000." I choked on my water. Where the hell did he get the rest of the money?!
"Where the hell did you get the rest of that money?"
"Don't worry about it. Just pack yo shit, and get ready to move. We moving next Friday."
I shook my head as I began to walk to out room. "You're killing me, Chris."
"Kay."
"Chris."
"Ain't you tired of this small ass apartment?"
To say I wasn't would be an understatement. This apartment was small, but it held a lot of memories. I gave Chris my first kiss in the living room, I lost my virginity to Chris in this very bedroom, we had our first fight in the kitchen, and we said those three fateful words to each other on the living room floor. Don't ask why we were on the floor.
I sighed as I ran my finger through my hair. "I don't know, babe. You know that we have so many memories in this apartment."
He rested his hands on my waist. "Baby, just trust me on this, alright?"
He kissed my forehead. "I guess so, Chris. Next time you do something like this, tell me first, okay?"
"I got you. Have I ever let you down?" I raised an eyebrow at him. He chuckled. "Nevermind."
He faked hurt as he pretended to walk away sad, but I pulled him back as I laughed. "I'm just playing with you, Chris. I trust you." I hugged him as he snaked his arms around my waist.
"I love you, Kay." He kissed my ear.
"You better, after all that shit we done gone through." He and I laughed.
"I do."
"Good. Then I love you too, Chris."
I kissed his soft lips as he kissed mine back. I rested my head on his chest for a minute before letting go of him to go to the kitchen to get started on dinner. As soon as I opened the refrigerator, it was nothing in there.
"Damn. Chris!" I called.
"What?" He yelled back from the room.
"When was the last time you went to the store?"
