It started in junior high. It was pretty hard because I got dumped by the popular girls. They didn't think I was cool or pretty enough. Because of that, they left me and I was alone.
I was also alone because kids at my school thought it was weird that I liked country music. They would make fun of me and it hurt a lot.
In ninth grade, I ended up moving to Nashville for a record deal. A year later, I returned home to the place I was mocked and I preformed a concert there. When I was there, I saw the girls who made me feel worthless. They showed up wearing my t shirts and asked me to sign their CD's. It was bittersweet because it made me realize that they didn't remember being mean to me and that I needed to forget about it myself.
To be honest, if I never came home feeling miserable, maybe I would have never felt the need to write songs. I should probably thank them.Because of them bullying me, I became who I am today.
I do still go on Twitter and Instagram and see people calling me horrible things but I tend to ignore it because every negative tweet is followed by a positive tweet from someone else. I am a singer and songwriter and I'm officially happy.
