I managed to drag my exhausted body to bed, heart still pounding. Pulling my blanket up to my chin, I struggled to get comfortable. Within minutes, I fell asleep. It was 8am when I woke up feeling refreshed and quickly went through my daily routine in my adjoining bathroom. I stepped out and glanced to the right out of habit before I remembered that strangely, the master bedroom was downstairs. Shaking my head, I stomped down the stairs towards the kitchen.
I wasn't surprised when I saw no one. The window had a nice view of the sun so I made a cup of tea and stood by it, enjoying the scenery. I'd never actually seen a sunrise, I was never a morning person. I'd almost never gotten up before noon except it was during school period. My parents claimed they had to get to work very early always so I never saw them before I went to school. They were always back before dinner though. They'd be at work right now, I thought. Which is why I was shocked when I heard someone whisper furiously and curse. It did not sound like either of my parents. I frantically grabbed a kitchen knife, gulping as it glinted in the sun.
I know, this chapter is waaay shorter than the last. I've never been good at lengthy chapters. Hopefully chapter three will be much longer.
