'Shit!' The person screamed again.

I slowly moved towards the door, afraid but also curious. It sounded like a male. Not as old as my dad, in fact much younger. But then, aren't a lot of murderers these days young? I gripped the knife more tightly. He was right outside the door. I took a deep breath.

God, this isn't really how I want to die. All alone in a weird house in a weirdish town. I have a life to..

I was snapped out of my fervent inner rant by the sound of the lock turning. Whatever happened to good old breaking and entering? Didn't this make things less exciting for criminals? I took a deep breath. If he was using a key, he probably wasn't even a criminal. Maybe he was a friend of my parents. Or the neighbor. I braced myself. Thank you Mum and Dad, for those Karate lessons you made me take. I swung open the door just as whoever was behind it was about to twist the knob.

I caught him by surprise. His brown eyes widened as he jumped, not at all expecting to see me. I adjusted myself into a fighting stance, legs spread apart firmly standing, both hands gripping the knife his eyes kept darting to, eyes narrowed, teeth bared. Ignoring the fast painful beating of my heart, I seethed, 'Who the hell are you?'

I patiently waited for a response, carefully watching his every move for any sign of attack. What looked like realization slowly dawned on him. He bent over and I raised my knife higher when his body began shaking. He was laughing. This.. This idiot had scared me half to death and he was laughing.

He stood up, wiping tears (that weren't even there). 'Answer me,' I spat out.

'Man, you really are dramatic, huh?'

Ohhhh, his voice..

'If you are visually impaired, perhaps you'd like to know that I have a knife in my hands,' I all but spat out, twisting the knife in my grip, allowing it to glint in the sun and convey my message of how sharp it was.

'You're Hannah, right?'

'How do you know my name?'

'Your parents didn't tell you about me?'

'Would I be standing here, with a kitchen knife ready to pierce your flesh, if they did, dumbass?' I was so mad.

He chuckled and whipped out a fancy phone, entering his passcode and doing God knows what.

How rude! I opened my mouth to let out a string of insults which he must have noticed because he held up a finger to silence me as he put his phone to his ear. I was shaking with anger.

'Good morning, Rachel. Yeah I'm at your house but I ran into your daughter and I'm having trouble dropping off your parcel.'

Rachel? Daughter? He was talking to my mother? Well now I feel stupid. Wait.. Parcel?

I searched the ground in front of us with my eyes and they rested on a large brown package. I internally groaned. Had I just made a fool of myself? He was just the delivery guy? But the delivery guy wouldn't be this close with my parents. I was so lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice he'd put the phone on speaker until I heard my mother calling my name.

'Hannah? Let the young man in and keep him company until we get back.'

'That's it? Let him in? Who is he?'

She sighed in the way she knew I hated. 'Just...He's a friend's son and he was doing us a favor by dropping something off for us so let him in.'

'A friend's son? Since when do you guys have any friends? And why does he have a key?'

'Hannah! We gave it to him. You're being extremely rude. Apologize to him and let. him. in.'

I didn't see how they'd have given him the key if we only just got here but I didn't feel like arguing in front of him so I settled with saying, 'He's a stranger.'

I watched the said stranger roll his eyes and I smirked.

'Just do this for us, please?' Her tone softened. 'Plus he could show you around town, he lives here.'

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

'Fine.' I grumbled and dropped my knife.

'Thank you. Love you.' And the line went dead.

I glared at the stranger who raised his hands in mock surrender, grinning widely as he said 'I'm Andrew'

'Well, it's not so nice to meet you, Drew.'

His brows furrowed as he frowned. Nice, I found a way to annoy him.

'Aaaan-drew' He said

I rolled my eyes. 'Pick up the parcel and come in.'

He flashed me a bright smile and did as I said, brushing past me as he went in. I slammed the door shut and turned around to face him with my palm outstretched. He cocked his head to the side and looked at me. I raised an eyebrow. He feigned confusion. I narrowed me eyes. He sighed.

'But I need it for..' He trailed off.

I narrowed my eyes. 'For what?'

'Nothing'. He sighed and came closer to me. I refused to acknowledge the fact that my breathing sped up. Then he dropped the key in my palm and I smiled.

Hannah- 1
Andrew- 0.
