"Why can't you do anything right?! You keep arguing with me all the time!" He roared red faced.

Eden shrunk to the corner of the room, her body violently shaking. But if it was from the contained sobs or because she was having a serious panic attack she didn't know.

Her dad was in one of his moods again, fiery and terrifying to be around. Eden watched as he screamed and shouted at her, eyes glazed over. She wanted to die, just to prove a point. If he hated her so much then he wouldn't mind if she was gone forever.

"Go to your room!" He bellowed, throwing a bowl across the room where she once crouched.

She slid off her room, sat on the bed and sobbed until she couldn't anymore. Until no sound came out and her eyes burned for lack of tears.

Eden looked up when she heard her window open and a tall boy with red hair appeared. He wore black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt that said "I want to believe on it", a baseball cap perched on the back of his head. And his chocolate eyes glowing delightfully.

"Josh! If my dad knows you're here then I'll be dead for sure." She hissed to him. All he did was grin at her and swagger over to the bed where she sat.

"I'm here to make sure you're okay Eden." He said putting an arm around her. "You can't let him just do this, it's abuse sweetheart." He kissed her temple and the gesture made her feel a little better.

"You're right, but you still shouldn't be here Josh."

"That's okay." He said nuzzling his face into her neck. He took a deep breath of her perfume and let it out with contentment.

"You're so stubborn." She laughed hugging him.

"That's what you need darling." Josh pet her hair and held her closely. "How are you feeling?"

"Good. Better. Still crappy." She took a deep breath. "Like everything in the world is my fault."

Josh took his cap off, ran his hands through his hair and put the hat back on.

"It's not, you're amazing and you need to know that." He said cupping her face in his hands, placing the tenderest kiss to her lips.

"I love you Eden."

"I love you too Josh." She said kissing him back.

"Eden!" Her dad yelled.

"Goodby-" Eden began to say but he was gone, with no trace that he was ever there.

"Bye Josh, thank you."she whispered.

"Talking to that dumb imaginary friend again are you?" Her father yelled.

Eden felt tears well up, her fists clenched in preparation of another crying fit.

"He's real, Josh is real, he's real, I'm not crazy." She chanted quietly.

"He is real."
