"Hello gorgeous." Josh winked at Eden, as she walked in her room.
"Oh my god you nearly made me jump out of my skin." She said hugging him tightly. "You really shouldn't scare me like that."
His hands rested on her hips, his thumbs making circles over her shirt.
"I wanted to surprise you." Josh's toothy grin appeared and his mocha eyes scrunched up in delight.
Eden hugged him again sighing into his chest. "Don't let go of me." She said quietly.
"Of course not." He replied resting his chin on her head. Her hair smelled like sweet tropical fruits, it was intoxicating to Josh.
"You're real." She whispered, grabbing the back of his shirt tightly in her fists. "You're real."
"What's wrong Eden?" Josh held her face up to him, her tanned skin smooth in his hands. She was so gorgeous in that moment, her hair down her back, eyes bright and longing.
"My dad says you're not real, but you're real. If you weren't I couldn't do this." She kissed him, her fingers twisting and pulling gently at the hairs on his nape.
Josh laughed into her mouth, his eyes scrunching up again. Oh god if he wasn't real, then Eden had an amazing imagination.
"Of course I'm real Eden. I'm real and I love you so very very much." Josh held her close to him as they lay on the bed, neither one speaking just staring into each other's eyes and intertwining their hands together.
"Eden!" Her father roared from downstairs.
"Not today." She groaned squeezing her eyes shut.
"Maybe I should talk to him." Josh said.
"You know what he thinks of you. You can't talk to him." She answered.
"Well he's coming up the stairs and soon he's going to open your door and find the boy he hates in the same bed as his daughter." Josh said standing up and opening the window.
"I guess this is goodbye then." Eden said holding his hand, his large gentle hand that fit so perfectly in hers.
"Goodbye Eden."
Instead of going out the window, Josh kissed her sweetly, a tear rolling down his face.
"I've stayed for too long." He croaked out softly.
"What are you talking about? You only just got here!"
"Let me go Eden." He said calmly.
"Josh you're acting weird, stop it."
"Let my hand go Eden!" More tears streamed down his face. "I didn't want this to happen, I never wanted this to happen. But it has to. You can't, you can't keep me."
"You're scaring me." She cried.
"Please Eden, just say goodbye and look away."
"No!"
"Eden you don't understand what's about to happen and I don't want you to." He breathed deeply, grabbing fistfuls of his red hair and pulling. "I am not who you think I am."
"Josh, oh god, no, please no."
"I'm simply your guardian angel in a way. I've always been here to care for you. But I can't anymore. I've gotten too attached. So say goodbye to me Eden." He swallowed hard. "I'm not real."
Eden stepped back in horror. Her feet taking her some path that she didn't know. They took her downstairs and outside to the car. She cranked it up and drove off, tears in her eyes.
A sharp turn came up when she least expected it and she ran into a ditch. Her head throbbed and a sticky liquid was coming from her forehead.
The drivers door opened violently and she could feel herself being pulled out as the sun pierced her eyes.
"Are you okay?" A familiar voice asked.
"Yeah I think I'm fine." She answered opening her eyes.
A boy with red hair and mocha eyes looked down at her.
"Josh?!" She screeched.
"Yes..? Have we met before?" He asked confused.
"Uh, no, you just um, look just like someone I used to know very closely."
"Oh okay, well I called for help. I'm going to stay here with you until they get here."
"Thanks Josh." Eden smiled, he smiled back and his eyes scrunched up happily.
