CHAPTER TWO

The Plans

The following day, Jerry had woken up at around eight in the morning. He had prepared himself for the wedding he had to attend at around ten in the morning.

He arrived at Ramad Cathedral, which was in the heart of Reoul City fifteen minutes before the actual time of the wedding.

Anthony was already outside the Cathedral waiting for his bride's arrival.

Anthony had asked him about his wedding engagement with Raine as soon as he had seen him. "Is the wedding engagement true?"

"Yes. I did confess my feelings for her last month. We got committed and then our grandfathers announced our engagement last night."

"It would be her twenty-fifth birthday tomorrow," Anthony had recalled.

Jerry had really forgotten about it so – "I know!"

"Love her with all your heart," Anthony had told her.

"You don't have to tell me, Anthony. I love Raine so much. I really intend to make her the happiest woman in this world."

Serena had arrived.

Anthony didn't back out on the wedding. A few people, who knew about his real feelings, had really suspected him to back out. But then he didn't.

Jerry had just left the wedding reception.

He had phoned his grandfather at once to ask him a question. He had also phoned Palms Beach Hotel, at Fubi, to make a reservation for a private dining room. Then he went to a jeweler shop.

Rogel had already been driving him to Fubi when he called Raine using his mobile phone.

It was already two thirty in the afternoon. Raine was with their parents talking about the wedding plans when the maid had handed her the cordless telephone. "Ma'am, Sir Jerry is on the line?"

She thanked the maid.

"It's already me," she said. "Where are you?"

"I'm on my way there," he informed her. "Where are you?"

Her answer was, "I'm in the garden with our parents. We're discussing things about the wedding."

He then asked, "I see. Do you have plans for your birthday tomorrow?"

She replied, "I have none. Why?"

He told her, "I want us to have dinner. I already reserved for a private dining room at Palms Beach Hotel."

She agreed, "Okay."

He further said, "I'll be there shortly. Tell them to wait up for me."

She replied, "Okay. Bye."

He uttered, "Bye."

As soon as the call ended, Jerry's mother asked. "What did Jerry say?"

She answered, "He had invited me out on a dinner for my birthday tomorrow, Tita. He's also on his way here."

"What about the dinner party I had planned for you," her mother had suddenly asked.

She reasoned out with her mother, "I didn't know you have plans, Mommy. I already said yes to Jerry."

"Just cancel it, dear," her father, Daddy Manuel, told her mother. "By the way, the dinner was just for the family. Let's give the two of them more quality time together."
