"I want the girl, the one who shot me. Everyone else against the wall!" Gareth demands a few hours later. I look to Daryl and Rick, not sure if I should do what they say, "we're gon' stitch up her wound.. don't be stupid now, do what I say and she'll be back within the hour." He explains.
I take a deep exhale and move forward to the door, "don't" Maggie tries to stop me.
"It'll be fine" I assure her, even though I can't believe that completely, "I don't think they would waste their time fixing me if they were just going to kill me." I explain to all of them as I stand there. They move to the wall and the door opens slightly.
The sun has set and a flashlight peers through the crack. It shines on my face, "move forward.. slide through" a different voice directs me. I do what I'm told and the door behind me shuts hard. He pushes me forward, a gun to my back and tells me to turn. I enter back into the room with all the candles, all the names and there is a chair in the corner. Gareth is now resting against a wall, a silver tray with some supplies sits next to him, "surprisingly enough they didn't give us any trouble." The man says as we get closer.
"That'll be all Mick, thanks." Gareth stares at the man behind me. I stare at him though, and his lanky figure. I look at the supplies now in front of me, not much to pick from. There's a needle, thread, and medical scissors, "wouldn't be smart, all doors are guarded right now" Gareth reads my mind, "take a seat" he offers with his hand out, pushing himself off the wall with his foot. I do what he suggests, deciding against attacking him. He sits down next to me, leans forward a little to grab something off the floor. His face gets close to mine, close enough I can smell him. He stares at me and I stare at him, daring him to try something. When he sits back up he has a brown bottle in his hand, peroxide, "this will probably sting a bit." He says opening the bottle and pouring some out onto a towel. He wipes it over my wound and I bite my lower lip in pain.
"Why shoot me if you're just going to fix me up?" I ask him after the stinging stops.
"You shot me, seemed fair enough you get shot back." He says pulling the needle off the tray.
"Why not shoot me yourself? Or just kill me now?" I ask him.
He goes to put the needle through my skin and I wince in pain, "now, why would I want to kill someone as beautiful as you" he smirks.
I roll my eyes and turn away, trying to think of anything else then where I am, "you might as well kill me" I finally say something back to him. He's still stitching my arm, poorly, and is almost done.
"Why do you say that?" He asks.
"Because if you kill them and leave me alive, I'll kill myself. They'll be no point in staying alive anymore" I say, "and I won't let myself live in your shit world" I grit through my teeth.
He doesn't answer me and finishes what he is doing. He drops the needle on the tray and removes the gloves he was wearing when he's done. He stands up, putting both arms on either side of the chair and gets closer to my face. I don't move though, keeping his stare with my death glare, "I don't see that happening." He says to me.
"Oh ya, why not?" I ask, sweat starting to form around my hairline.
"If those scars on your arm are any indication of past attempts at suicide, I'd say you're too coward to finish the job." He explains to me with a grin. His words anger me and I use my head against his. It hits him in the nose and I know it's bleeding. He quickly recovers though, slapping me hard across the face, "I like a little fight." he laughs back wiping the blood from his nose with his sleeve, "Mick! Get her outta here." He calls out loudly.
The man appears back from the door he exited from earlier almost immediately, "you okay?" He asks Gareth while walking over to us.
"Don't ask stupid questions. Get her back in the train car" he tells him again before walking out, "give her the food, tell them if they try anything she's dead and we won't feed them anymore" he adds on.
"Let's go" Mick pushes me forward with his gun again. We get outside and stop for a bit while someone grabs some food. I take that time to look around. The fence is right up next to the train tracks, and cars litter the road. There's a lot of old train cars littered on the road as well, some tripled in height. I wonder how many people they have here, how many people they've killed. "Okay, let's go!" He says once the food is in my arms. Most of it is powdered food and some water bottles as well. We get to the bottom of the steps and he hollers into the locked metal container, "back against the wall. She has your food. You try anything stupid and she's dead. 15 seconds." The 15 seconds goes by slowly. He pushes me up with a nudge of his hand and I walk slowly up the few steps. He comes around the side and slides the door open, the barrel of the gun now pushes against my ribs. "Go" he demands once the door is open just as far as before.
I slide in, someone taking the food from me as I go and the door slides shut as soon as my foot is through, "you okay?" Daryl is the first one next to me.
My eyes try to adjust to the amount of light, the darkness of the night not allowing me to see much in front of me, "I'm fine. He just stitched up my arm." I say to him. I move past him and feel his hand on my back. I keep my head turned away, in case it's still red from Gareth's hit.
"Did they say anything to you?" Rick asks when I get towards him.
I shake my head, "just that we're all going to die." I shrug sadly.
"No." Rick demands, "we came up with a plan. We use everything we got, everything possible and we fight back."
"Rick" I sigh out, knowing that plan wouldn't work.
"We aren't going to lay down and die, not like this!" He argues back. He turns his body back towards everyone, "we use our belts, our shoe laces, we sharpen whatever we can. They come back, and we take them down. Once out, we run for the fences. Get over and run, follow the tracks out and keep going." His voice is low as he explains the plan, "we'll gather up and come back to finish them." He says.
"Rick, do you really think that could work?" Glenn asks him.
"It has too, what other choice do we have?" He asks us all, "when they come, we go for the eyes, they won't expect it and one good shot is all it takes, then go for the throat. Everybody get going. Let's figure out what we have and make some weapons." He directs.
