Chapter 3: The New Alpha
I couldn't stop thinking about what happened yesterday. Hadley didn't have a mate yet, but she is 18 she should have found her mate two years ago. And her becoming Alpha if she doesn't find her mate that just doesn't make sense I thought only males could become Alphas? So to sort all of this out I asked the only person that I knew that I could trust and get truthful answers from.
Alpha Mason.
“Alpha Mason?”
“Yes Rhydian what is it?”
“I have some questions that I need your help answering.”
“And those questions would be..?”
“I know this girl from another pack and I found out that she doesn't have a mate and she is 18. I also found of she is the heir to the Alpha and that if she doesn't find her mate then she will become Alpha. Is that even possible?”
“The not finding a mate when you turn 17 is possible. Her becoming Alpha if she doesn't find her mate, well that just depends on her packs religion and rules. You do realize that you are almost 18 and you do not have a mate yet either?”
“I know but I thought it would be hard for a female to live without her mate?”
“No, only when she has found her mate does that happen.”
“Oh.”
“Why do you ask all of these questions?”
“Because I know her and it confuses me.”
“Well maybe sometime it you will become unconfused.”
“Ya. Maybe.” I said but I really wasn't listing I was thinking about what happened in the woods. It was really confusing.
“Speaking of you turning 18. As you know I don't have a generation after me so that means I have no one to step up to the Alpha title and I have held the title for far to long...”
I nodded my head not really paying attention.
“So I was wondering if you would like to take my place as Alpha when you turn 18 in a few weeks.”
Was he serious? Me, being the next Alpha?”
“How could I say no!”
“Splendid. You do realize though, that means when 10:59 you will howl into the sky in wolf form to find your mate, so that she can help you run the pack alongside you?”
“Ya, that’s fine I'd rather find my mate that way then have to ponder for weeks if the girl that I laid eyes on is my mate or not. This way I will automatically know it is her.”
