(Hey guys! I'm Lee and this is my own story! Whoop! All characters belong to Stephenie Meyer!)
Chapter One
“That’s it?” I asked, my hands digging into my father shoulders. “It’s not much of a prophesy, Dad,”
Dad laughed, his shoulders shook under my hands. “Not all prophesy’s are long, Ness. I think this is one. It’s you their talking about,”
“Y’know, I heard Mum reading something off the back of a cornflake packet once …it sounded exactly as if it was describing you! Maybe you were destined for a life of cardboard boxes and milk!” I teased, not wanting to talk any further on this so called ‘prophesy’ that Dad had found on the internet.
I had reason to be sceptical about prophesy’s and legends that dad would read to me. for some reason, he always thought that they referred to me. I mean, sure, some of them did sound a little similar to my life… ‘this child will not be of either race’ that could mean the hybrid part of me…but maybe everyone was taking this a little bit seriously.
I was me, if you excuse the grammar, or lack of it. I could never be ‘a higher being’.
“Okay, I think we’ve had enough for the day,” Dad stood from the chair and the computer’s whirring lessened. He had actually turned it off.
“Try, we’ve had enough for the year,” I reached for dad’s arm and let him gently lead me out of the computer room.
Yes, we had a computer room. I had only found that out a few days ago. We lived in such a big house and living with no sight was a sure way of getting lost if you explored any further than the familiar places.
“Here,” Dad gently lifted me into his arms and carried me down the three flights of stairs down to where the rest of my family was. He stopped at the bottom of the the stairs and set me down on my feet, he knew me well enough not to carry me all the way into the room.
“Thank you,” I slid both of my arms around his hard elbow and moved my feet carefully and slowly. I knew that there weren’t any toys scattered around the floor for me to trip over, or table legs to stub my toes on, but I was still careful with my steps.
I was ashamed to admit that it took a very long time for us to reach the dining room. Even with dad’s arms around me, I was still unsure of my steps. Being blind since birth you would have thought I’d get a little more confident and walked quicker.
But alas, no.
“What’s on the agenda for today?” I asked, hoping that we would be having a certain visitor.
“Not much,” Dad sighed and squeezed my hand a little. “Jacob called,” He admitted.
“He did?” I asked, trying not to sound desperate at the mention of his name and hoping that he was alright. I would hate for him to get tied up with pack things. It was hard when the person who meant the most to you was a werewolf charged with the responsibility of guarding an entire village.
So the werewolves guarded the village from vampires, that did not bother me in any way at all…maybe a little.
“He might be a little late tonight, but he’s coming,” Did I hear a slight edge of annoyance in my father voice? I knew that he and Jacob didn’t exactly always see eye to eye, but I thought that they had been making progress.
“Great! I enjoy his company,” I nudged dads arm, implying that maybe he should enjoy Jacob’s company.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Dad smiled, I knew he smiled because I could hear it in his voice. “And I’m alright with Jacob coming here,”
