Marshmallows, Evolution and Do You Have A Hall Pass to go on that quest?

Dinner came and went, and soon I was squished between two teens and a tree at the amphitheatre.
The teens, Izzy and Liam, I found out (but only due to their impressive skills of saying each other's names while swapping saliva) ignored me, and Liam dropped a melted marshmallow on my knee in his enthusiasm to suck his girlfriends face off.
The tree sat pleasantly, a face of a kind young girl half melted out of it, and talked to a boy in front of her.

Lee was in the lake - I had seen her on our cheery trot down here - talking to Rezzy.

Mr. D was popping sodas at an alarming velocity and Chiron was reading.

An Apollo kid had just been claimed, and we had all awkwardly bowed in our sitting positions.
Except for Izzy and Liam, who were obviously under the impression that we were all beneath them.
I had just stood up to adjust my marshmallow stick near the fire when a voice behind gasped. A shuffling of awkward maneuvers and everyone was on their knees. Horrified at missing the clue, I looked around, but saw no demigod being claimed.
Oh.
I looked up at the shining purple-y grey light and sighed loudly.
"Took your time." I said, adding a tiny obscenity at the end. I waved, annoyed, at the glowing symbol.
"Yes, yes. You can pop off now." I said to it.
"All hail, Ryan Adams, son of Janus. God of doorways, new beginnings, and crossroads." Chiron rumbled, not sounding very enthusiastic or surprised.
I ignored the echoes of the words, plucked my marshmallow of the stick and ate it, feeling a sort of hysterical bored-calm lapsing over me.
A few seconds later and everyone was back in their seats. The newly-claimed Apollo kid gave me a halfhearted smile and wave, which I returned, just as Lee stepped up next to me.
"I'll show you to your cabin," she told me. I didn't bother telling her I had seen it - I felt oddly drained and annoyed.
"When you're claimed, are you supposed to be all joyful?" I asked her as we climbed out of the amphitheatre.
"Nah. When I was claimed, I wasn't very happy." She replied loftily.
"Weren't you dying?"
"Could've been it."
We reached the cabin and she pursed her lips, looking at all the doors.
"Are you allowed to come in?" I asked her, opening a large door in the corner. Lee hesitated.
"'Half-Blood may not go into the opposite gender's cabin, unless a sibling.'" She quoted. I shrugged and opened the door.
"But..."
I turned half-way.
"I'm lesbian, so not much will happen, and I'm dead." She finished. She looked at me carefully as she uttered the first statement. I smiled half-way and offered her entrance.

It didn't mean chicken nuggets to me what her sexual orientation was. I told her this, and she grinned.

I went to the same bed as I had the night before, and she raised an eyebrow.
"You've already stayed here? Unclaimed?"
Lee asked skeptically, chewing her pale lip.
"I was tired. Plus, we already pretty much knew the Big-J was my dad, anyway." I shrugged it off and sat on my bed, stifling a yawn.
"You're exhausted." Lee said, matter-of-fact.
"Nah, I could party for days." I say, watching in amusement as Lee tried to hold back a yawn, too.
"I thought you didn't breathe?" I inquired, digging in the backpack a Hermes kid has given me earlier. I found basic toiletries, a fresh set of clothes and a flask of ambrosia.

"Habit. You got any pyjamas?"

"Nay." I murmured, just as a set of cotton pyjamas flew at my face. I dragged them off my face.

"They were in the cupboard..." She said quietly, turning away as I got changed.
A knock on a door caused an embarrassed scuffle as I buttoned up the shirt. I padded to a door - there was four on the inside - and opened it.
It was Chiron.
"Hello," I say cheerfully.
"Greetings." He looked troubled.
"Something wrong?" Lee asked, coming up behind me. His eyebrows raised, somehow still furrowed.
"No demigod of the opposite gender-"
"I'm dead, Chiron." Lee pointed out. I noticed she did not mention her sexuality.
He chewed his lip.
"This once. Anyway, Ryan, you must come. We have much to discuss." Chiron told me, voice grave. I glanced at Lee.
He sighed.
"Lillianna can come."
I didn't miss Lee grumbling that she would have come anyway.
