"Finally." sighed Fieldy, as he plopped himself on the dressing room couch."We have officially wrapped up our first tour." Munky smiled, as he started packing up his things.
"It feels good." stated Head. "We are living the dream. We are rock stars."
Jonathan smiled, it was true. Their dreams were coming true. They had released their first album, self-titled. And now they had also successfully completed their own tour.
"I am exhausted." said David, as he walked into the room and joined Fieldy on the comfortable couch.
David was the only one to comment about his exhaustion. But, in reality, they were all exhausted. They had been playing every single day for the past few weeks. They needed a break.
"I was thinking." David said. Everyone turned to look at him. They wanted to know what he had in mind now. He was always thinking ahead of everyone. While they all lived in the present, it seemed like David lived in the future. Always thinking about it.
"The tour was great and all. But, I feel like we need a break."
"We are getting a break." stated Fieldy, with a yawn. "The tour is over. It's time to go back home."
David rolled his eyes. "What I meant, Reggie, is that we need a break from EVERYTHING."
Munky stopped packing his things and looked down at David in confusion. Jonathan quietly waited for David to continue talking.
"As I was saying, we need a break from everything. The studio, the parties, our house, everything." David said, looking at Fieldy, and then at everyone else.
"And, where the heck are we supposed to live? I don't understand where you're going with all this." Head said. Munky nodded his head in agreement.
"Well, I was thinking we could go on vacation."
"I think that's a great idea." Jonathan said, getting up from the stool he had been sitting on. "What did you have in mind? Where did you want us to go?"
"My girlfriend has this lake house an-"
"What girlfriend?" Fieldy asked, trying not to laugh.
David turned and glared at Fieldy. "I have a girlfriend, unlike you. Her name is Nevaeh."
Fieldy squinted his eyes in suspicion. "Sure, you do. And, how come we've never met her?"
Head laughed "We have met her. David introduced her to us, at that party we had before leaving to tour." Fieldy looked at Munky and Jon, they were nodding in agreement. "You were fucking drunk, so you probably don't remember." He tried to remember but couldn't. That night, like many others, was a blur to him.
"Anyway, I was thinking we could go stay over at her lake house. The house is a big old mansion that she inherited from her grandparents. It's hidden deep in a forest. Nice and quiet. Just what we need for a relaxing vacation. So, what do you guys say? Wanna go?"
"I'm down." said Jonathan excitedly. "I need some place quiet. Some where I can concentrate and write some new songs."Munky smiled. "If Jon wants to go, then so do I."
"I'm gonna go, just to see if David really does have a girlfriend. Because, I find it hard to believe. I mean, what girl would date this dumbass." joked Fieldy. David just ignored him and turned his attention to Head.
"What about you, Head?"
"Sleeping, is all I had planned. I guess, I can do that in the lake house."
"Great! David chirped, getting up from the couch. "Let me call Nevaeh and tell her that we'll be there." David got his phone out and stepped out into the hallway to make the call.
A moment later, he stepped back into the room. "It's settled, we're going. Come on, you guys." He signaled for them to get up. "Let's stop at the house, pack some stuff and head straight for the lake. It's a long drive."
***
First, the guys stopped at their house to quickly pack the essentials. And by essentials, I mean the alcohol. Well, some clothes too. Then, they headed to a grocery store. They needed to stock up on at least a month's worth of food. That's how long they were planning on staying at the lake house. They all agreed that a month was more than enough time for their little vacation. Well, they though they had agreed on it. Truth is, David and Nevaeh had been planning that vacation for quiet some time. But, the guys didn't need to know that. After that, they started the drive right away.
"Are we there yet?" asked Head.
"We've only been driving for ten minutes." Jonathan chuckled.
"Well, I'm already bored." Head looked at Munky and Fieldy, who were asleep next to him. Fieldy, on his left, with his head up against the car window. And Munky, who had fallen asleep on his shoulder, on his right. Head lightly pushed Munky's head off of his shoulder. He was starting to drool, and Head didn't want any saliva on his new shirt.
"Find something to entertain yourself with. We still have three hours to go."
Head sighed. This was going to be a very long drive. Five minutes later, Head was about to ask David if they were there yet. But, as soon as he opened his mouth his nose picked up a rather foul smell. A fart. It was one of those "silent but deadly" farts. Fieldy's signature fart. "Dude, what the fuck!" He knew it had been Fieldy. He looked over at him, he was still asleep, with a smile on his face. Head wanted to punch him but instead he quickly covered his nose and yelled at David to open the windows.
After another two hours of driving, David turned down the radio. He needed to tell the guys something. Fieldy and Munky hadn't woken up, and they wouldn't wake up anytime soon. He decided to tell Jon and Head. They needed to know something before arriving at the mansion.
"There's something I forgot to mention earlier." David said, as he stuck his hand out of the window.
"What is it? asked Jon, still keeping his eyes on the road.
"It's nothing, just that we will be sharing the house." David said casually.
"What!? With who?" asked Head, leaning towards the front seats.
"With Nevaeh."
"Oh, okay." Head relaxed a bit. Jonathan didn't say anything, he didn't mind.
"And her kids." added David. Jonathan quickly turned to face him.
"There's gonna be kids there!? I thought I was going to have a quiet atmosphere. Kids are fucking loud and annoying!"
"Chill out, they're teenagers."
"How does that make it any better!?" Head blurted out. "Some teenagers are worse than little kids!"
"I haven't met them yet, but Nevaeh says they're very well behaved. They're twins. They won't cause any trouble." David assured him. "They better not." Jon mumbled.
"Oh, yeah, and also her sister."
Head threw his arms up in the air. "Unbelievable. I thought we were going to have the whole house to ourselves."
David shook his head. "Nope, sorry."
Head grunted.
"But, don't worry. The house is huge." David reassured him. "You might not even have to see them at all."
"Are we there yet?" Head asked, trying to change the subject.
"Almost." answered David. "We're almost there." It didn't seem like it, but David was more impatient than Head. He wanted to get there already. He wanted to see the love of his life. He missed her. Sure, they had talked almost every day since he left to tour, but it wasn't enough. He needed to have her in front of him. He needed to hug and kiss her. David smiled at the thought. When they arrive, that's what he is going to do. He will tell her how much he loves her.
