"Have we arrived yet Paul?" Zayn asked as we followed the black men. It's been hours since we were walking or, should I say, following those men only God knows where. Paul has learned French so he helped us communicating with those people and that's why Zayn directed the question to Paul. Are they cannibals who are going to eat us for dinner or are they just kidnappers who will ask for millions from whoever knows us to let us be free? Nobody knows but we kept following them.
"Not yet." Paul answered after he asked one of the black men. "Probably we've walked for half the distance, you shouldn't be tired because we're gonna walk for few more miles." Oh no tell me I'm dreaming!
Why the hell did I choose Ghana? I never meant by 'living with Africans' being kidnapped by them and walking such a long distance and I don't even know where we're going. The car is lost, the suitcases are lost, and I think we're also lost. What are we gonna eat for dinner if they're not cannibals? Sand? Rocks? Why the hell did they even kidnap us? I'm tired of thinking and my arms hurt me like nothing has ever made them hurt me that much because they attached us really hard.
I could see from far away some houses built and grouped together, their colors were black and white and were decorated by some shapes like triangles and squares and circles.
"We're in Tiébélé, in the south of Burkina Faso or the houses wouldn't be like that but huts." And that means that we're nearer to Ghana! Because Ghana is in the south of Burkina Faso.
"Can you ask them why they brought us here?" Zayn asked as we approached more.
Paul answered. "They're not cannibals but they just kidnapped us because they want non-African blood for doing some magic spells." We stayed silent as we listened to him. "I don't know but if they want so much blood and ours is gonna work, someone or maybe more than one person will be killed and if they don't want that much of blood, maybe they'll cut our skin or something."
And after few minutes we arrived and the four men threw us in front of a woman, who was wearing some purple clothes, and a red scarf around her head and had a big bowl in front of her. Do they believe in black magic that much?
She said stuff to those four men and I could hear Paul whispering next to me "uh-oh." I looked at him in a bit of shock. "What's wrong Paul?"
"She wants blood of a woman." I stared at the women in pity as I begged she won't use me or anything else. But after two seconds, I realized I was the only non-African woman here and right after I was held up by an African man, dragging me in front of the woman who was sitting in her place, pouring some water or something in her bowl.
She took my hand and looked at me straight in the eyes, if eyes' looks could hurt, I would be dead. She unattached the rope, took my arm, a spear and cut a big part and let the blood spilled out of my arm and getting in that big bowl. If there was too much blood lost, I would be almost dead. "Please leave me." I whispered like if she would listen to me, she didn't even understand what I was saying. "STOP." I said as I dragged my arm from her hands and took a scarf that was next to her and put it around my arm and I was almost crying. Imagine having a cut arm because of african's black magic, seeing your own blood getting into a bowl and more smoke gets out of the bowl as more blood gets in it, it was terrifying.
She said something to the men in a loud voice and they attached me back and dragged all of us between the houses and threw us in one.
"I don't wanna stay here for another minute please let's escape or anything." I cried as I was laying on my stomach.
"We all want to escape but none of us knows where's the car." Paul said and I just cried more, I'm pretty sure they'll cut my arm again because I'm the one who snatched my arm from her.
"Exactly but please Perrie don't cry because they won't feel pity for us, they're harsh and violent and as you see, they throw us like if they were littering." Zayn comforted me as he tried to stay properly and he succeeded.
"I wouldn't like to leave people and get lost, even though they're that violent." John commented.
"What are we supposed to do n-" I was about to complete my question but the door opened. And a black man started to say things and we looked to Paul, waiting for translations.
"Tomorrow, they'll take some of your blood again Perrie. Sorry to let you hear that but I wouldn't like to keep it from you and I didn't want to worsen your day either."
"And why not now?" John asked.
"Because the spell only works on a specific time and it has passed."
"I'll be here for you, just look the oth-" Zayn comforted but I cut him off.
"I DON'T WANT MY BLOOD TO BE USED IN BLACK MAGIC AND NEITHER DO I WANT TO BE DEAD!" I shouted, still laying on my stomach.
"We have no other chance, I would give them my blood if I could but they want the blood of a woman." Paul consoled me.
"Perrie, if you won't give them what they want, we will be stuck in here and we won't leave forever." John said to me. Their destinies is based on my choice. So is mine..
"I WILL BE LIVING WITHS SCARS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! I WILL BE SICK AND MAY BE HOSPITALIZED BECAUSE OF THE LOSE OF THE BLOOD! I MAY BE POSSESSED BECAUSE I HELPED IN BLACK MAGIC! DIDN'T YOU THINK ABOUT HOW MY LIFE MAY BE RUINED BECAUSE OF THIS!" I shouted as I burst into tears.
"You must have been watching a lot of scary movies lately that affected your fucking brain because YOU ALREADY HAVE A SCAR BECAUSE THEY ALREADY CUT YOUR ARM, HOSPITALIZING IS TEMPORALLY AND I DON'T THINK YOU'LL BE AND IF YOU PRAY ON EVERY FREAKING NIGHT YOU WOULDN'T BE POSSESSED SO PLEASE GIVE THEM YOUR FREAKING BLOOD AND LET US LEAVE!" John shouted back at my face.
"DON'T TALK TO HER THAT WAY!" Zayn yelled at John and helped me sitting properly and resting my back on the wall. "Perrie, can you please listen to what I'll say without interrupting?" He looked at me and I nodded. "I know you're strong and they're some crazy people who find your blood important in their lives. Would you rather having scars or dying? Don't you miss Jade? Don't you miss London and your home that you left less than a day ago? Only with your decision, your choice, you can save four people, not mentioning Jade who might cry until death if you won't come back to London or won't face call her every night or Niall who will cry with her because she is crying." He joked about the jiall think so I smiled at him and he did.
"I'm sorry Perrie for yelling at you earlier and I should have done what you've done, Zayn, convincing and not shouting. I'm sorry Zayn for making you yell bu-" John said as he was sitting next to Paul, resting on the wall opposite to us, and I interrupted him.
"It's okay John. I think I was a bit dramatic about being possessed and stuff you know." I snickered so did all of them.
* * *
We stayed from almost 11:00am Burkina Faso time, to 6:00pm doing absolutely nothing but chit chatting about stuff about our lives but mostly, we stayed silent just staring at the floor and looking for conversations. They left us without food or water, I doubt that they forgot about us.
"Perrie, can I ask you for some feminine advice?" Paul asked.
"Sure." I answered as I looked at him.
"My girlfriend was on her period and she texted me that all she wanted is to be alone so I texted her 'whatever you want Bae'. Is it alright or is she going to go mad at me and let me feel like the worst boyfriend in this whole wide world?" He explained.
"It's a proof that not only me is having difficulties to understand women." Zayn said as Paul and John laughed while I was looking for something to tell him.
"You're not the worst boyfriend in this whole wide world unless you're cheating, Paul." I started. "But a woman will never tell you: come and care about me' because we believe that beautiful things don't ask for attention, so she says it in some way hopping you'll understand what she means but you didn't. You should have been by her side when she tells you that she doesn't feel alright and you've never been on your period so you don't know how awful we feel about it. AND, you shouldn't feel as the worst boyfriend ever because if you were, you wouldn't think about it or ask me about what you should do."
"I wanted to surprise my ex once in winter."Zayn said."So I woke up the early morning, at like 5:00am, got dressed in some semi-formal wear, got some flowers and went to her apartment. I had already her apartment keys and I decided to put the flowers on her bed table and cook her breakfast, ask her to wear some dress and go somewhere else together in the early morning when almost nobody is in the street but while I was putting the flowers on her bed side table, I noticed that she had her period so I turned the hot water and made a bubble bath, woke her up and asked her to get in the bath, put her bed cover and clothes in the washer and put some cute ass pajamas in the dryer for few minutes so she would feel warmer when she puts them on. Brought her so much chocolates and brought myself some sweatpants and a sweatshirt and we spent our day watching some movies, cuddling, and telling some embrassing stories so she would laugh and forget the pain. You could leave work when we arrive to Ghana and let some other person come instead of you while you'll be with her doing what she loves together." Wow. See, I like how Zayn is so caring. But I don't think that's the right thing to say to a man who has ignored his girlfriend who's on her period. He could've comforted him and that's it. Sometimes I feel like Zayn just likes to be seen as the good man, like always. Which makes others feel bad. I can't understand his intentions though, I'm just saying that if I were at Paul's place, I would've been embarrassed and.. that's just not what I would've wanted to hear right now.
"Why did you break up? You said she was your ex." Paul asked.
"She told me that she likes some other guy but we keep contacting, as friends."
"what do I do about my girlfriend now? I'm stuck with some Africans and won't go back to Ghana until tomorrow or maybe the day after tomorrow." Paul asked.
"Make her feel loved and appreciated." I said. "Buy her some of her favorite snack or cook her favorite dinner, keep telling her she's beautiful when she smiles so that will make her smile more. Maybe you can write her a letter or take her to her favorite place. You should know stuff about her more tha-" I was interrupted by the door open harshly by a muscled black man.
"He says that they'll party about something and we all have to be with them." Paul translated. I don't know what we would do without you Paul! We all looked at each other waiting for a response, I think nobody wanted to join their party.. "It's not an option, he said we HAVE and not we SHOULD or MAY IF WE WANT." Paul said and before saying a word, we were all left up by this man and dragged out of this house. At least we'll get out of this muddy house for at least an hour.
