Chapter 2

"Finally! Some decent hair!" I exclaimed, as I ran my brush through my now glistening and shining hair ten too many times. " Jade!" my mom screamed,as I put the final touches on my now perfect hair. I walked out of the bathroom, trying to remember the things I need to quickly finish before I had to leave for school. "Are you almost ready?!" my mom screamed again, "yes!" I replied, bounding down the stairs and sprinting out the door to the car where my dad and sister were waiting. Just as I closed the door, my dad threw his work bag into the backseat, in between me and my sister, Alexis. My sister sat beside me, not talking as she had her nose buried in one of her newest novels.  As we made room for his bag he turned on the radio to my favorite station. They play good music, but that isn't why it's my favorite. It's because of their morning talk shows. I mean they talk about all the interesting stuff, stuff that people actually care about and can relate to. Like, dating advice, prank calls, celebrities, advice on bad relationhips, while its hilarious all the same. Fifteen minutes later, my dad sped around the corner and we arrived at my sisters school. My sister grabbed her backpack and lunchbox and headed to the front door to start her day. After my sister finally disappeared inside of her school, my dad turned to me, saying ," Get in the front with me, I'm not your personal chauffer", with a hint of sarcasm and a goofy smile that always made me laugh. I giggled, then climbed into the front seat with him. We drove, talked, laughed, and sang along with the radio, having fun. We were two turns away from school, when I realized the drama that was waiting for me inside the terrible building made for learning, that we called a school.

(last Friday)

" That chili was so good!" I exclaimed to my best friends, Anita, Nicole and Cameron. We had just come from a chili cookout, an event that the school decided to host every year in our parish center. We talked and ate and did everything best friends were supposed to do. We had a ball. Once we came out of the building, we ran over to the monkey bars, just in front of the parish center. As I ran I could still feel the heavy chili I had eaten, jiggling in the bottom of my stomach. We reached the monkey bars and performed a series of flips , that we always did. David, one of my best guy friends, also in my class, jogged over. " Hey jade, I have to show you something" he exclaimed, while waving his cellphone in the air. " Well your going to have to come up here!" I screamed at him from the monkey bars, not feeling like gettng down. "Sure." he said and climbed up with me. He handed me his phone and showed me a video. Sure it was funny but what was most intriguing was how he was intently staring at me. After the video was finished I turned to him to ask if there was a problem. But before I could say anything he kissed me, full on the lips. And I'll admit I might have kissed him back a little. Then suddenly he quickly ended the kiss almost as quick as he started it. He mumbled " I'm sorry" , jumped off the monkey bar and hustled away from my view. I was still on the monkey bars processesing what just happended. I finally jumped off the monkey bars, thinking about the kiss when I saw Anita with her jaw on the ground, while looking at something on her cellphone. As I approached her, she stared at me in disbelief. "OMG" she said she held out her phone to me, still trying to choke out some words. I just ignored her and looked at the phone to see what was choking her up. (So first of all, let me say Anita is one for taking pictures. She takes them all the time, wanting to capture every moment, I guess.... Anyways back to the story.) As soon as I looked at the phone my jaw dropped as well, but this time I could've sworn it was touching the ground. On Anita's phone was a picture of David kissing me, on the monkey bars! Soon Cameron and Nicole realized our dismay and came over to see what was wrong. Well let's just say their mouths were just as low as mine

PRESENT

My dad ,finally, took the last turn to get to school. This day just keeps getting worse, school just became a living hell. I got out of the car said goodbye to my dad, who was totally oblivious to my hesitation of going to school. As I took the first step into school, I wished my magic was strong enough to open a hole beneath me, taking me with it. But unfortunately, I knew that just wasn't going to happen. As I got two feet into the door, I took another deep breath and said a mental prayer, cause honestly, I need Jesus.
