Once I got home, I raced upstairs to room, and threw open the doors to my closet, searching for my spell book. I must have been really loud, so my mom screamed," Jade!, what are you doing?" "Homework!" I replied. " then what's all that noise?" she asked, as I heard her footsteps draw nearer. " just looking for a pencil in my..." then my mom bust through my bedroom door, obviously ignoring my "please knock " hanging on the outside of my door, still in her work clothes. As I looked my mom up and down I noticed how much longer her hair had gotten. And she looked gorgeous, but my mom has always been that pretty, so nothing new. Anyways I tried to act nonchalant, but obviously it didn't work because worry filled her eyes, as she asked, "Is there anything you would like to talk about? Because you know I'm here for you." " No , everything is fine" I replied, then added " but thanks anyways", because it was obvious she cared about me. " ok" she said, then smiled at me. I watched her walk down the hallway, then silently, walked over, and closed the door, then quickly returned to my dilemma. I sorted through books, toys, and papers, when I finally found my spell book. It was almost 1000 pages, and looked 200 years old. I swiped off some of the dirt and dust on the cover, so it would look a bit fresher. The hard cover caught the light, with the title, Advanced Society of Magic for Witches, gleaming up at me. I flipped to the index to find a love spell, and scanned all of the spells looking for the perfect one. I finally stumbled on one called, Opposites Attract, that seemed perfect for the job. I got all the materials required, then set a pink and orange candle in front of me. I lit the candles and let it's scent waft over me. I lifted the heavy book into my lap and read the spell, " Grant me the love that I lack; Through this scent my mate attract!" As I felt the cold wind, and warm rush, from the effect of the spell, I gathered the salt I had kept at my side, took a handful and threw it in the air, perfectly timed. I watched as every grain of salt, flashed and disappeared, along with the cold wind that came with it. I closed my eyes, and concentrated on Jack's face in my mind, repeating the spell over and over, enforcing the spell with every bit of raw will I could muster. The fire from the candles flickered and shot up, and warmed my face. It encircled me and I could feel fear coursing through my body. Before I could panic, one more gush of wind went through the room and the candles were blown out, indicating the spell was over. The warmth of the fire left me and I sat on the ground shivering from the chill, but mostly from fear. After I had composed my self, I reached over to my spell book, and saw a footnote was attached. It said the spell took 9 hours to work, so by morning Jack would be in love with me. Then reality hit. JACOB WILL BE IN LOVE WITH ME! I fell into bed, imagining me and Jack holding hands, walking, talking, kissing. It was great and the event left me with sweet dreams, and uncompleted homework.
