The time was unknown to her as she awoke, cocooned in her dark blue sheets that felt like liquid against her naked skin.

Sitting up slowly, one hand using the sheet to cover herself, she faced his figure.

He stood in his suit once again, facing her bedroom window where a chunk of moonlight shown through, staining her floor white.

The sound of a truck going past her apartment was the only thing heard in that moment of blissful silence, but his head turned slightly. "You should be resting."

"So should you." A pause. "What are you thinking about?"

He turned around and rejoined her as he plopped down next to her on the bed, laying back. "The future, of course."

"Vague." She stated.

A slight smile appeared on his features. "Of us."

A slight blush settled over her cheeks as she lay back down, head on his chest. Relaxing from the soothing beat of his heart. "Still vague." She whispered teasingly.

A comfortable silence settled with his steady heartbeat and their even breathing.

"Do you want to run?" His soft voice whispered. "Get away from this place and live normally?"

Liz thought it over frowning. "I don't know. I mean I'd love to but this is our... home."

"Home." He echoed. "I've never actually had a home then."

"Of course you have. You must have!" She looked up at him. "Home is a sense of security and belonging. Haven't you ever felt safe?"

"Safety is an illusion. We live in a world of sin and evil. Who feels safe in a world like that?"

"I did when I got to know you."

Kevin eyed her in amusement. "You still confuse me, Ms. Elizabeth Bradley. You and your kindness and your wisdom."

"I'm simply me. And you are simply you. No puzzles, no games. We are who we are in this world of sin and evil."
