Nicks POV! I will apologise now for the amount of times I switch POV throughout the book!
Shortly after leaving her, I checked the tracker. I placed it in her skin with my powers, hoping she would leave it there. It bleeped, she was on the move. She was heading home. I sighed audibly. The old woman kept up with my pace. She was my partner for tonight. "Maya needs to know the truth, you cannot trust the council" she whispered, eyes darting all over the place. "I know, but there isn't a lot we can do at the moment. If we can get her to meet them, then they will stay off our backs for the moment. I need Maya to control herself in front of them, if they know the extent of her powers straight away, I stand no chance in saving her" I didn't mind her knowing about them, she and Joe were the only people I could trust. "If you think that will work, if anyone asks I was hunting with you all night" she moved quietly, I hated to hunt my own kind. But the council needed to see proof of a body for tonight's hunt. Everyone thought I was using Maya to get my sister back, I needed Maya more than her. It was selfish but us Witches care more for soulmates than family. Soulmates enhance our abilities, making us more powerful than our parents. Each vision of Maya feels right, us laying next to each other but there was wolves and animals surrounding us everytime. I shook them off, the prickle of a vision coming fast.
I finally drove the stake through his heart, killing him as the sun rose. At his weakest. I turned and saw her smiling as she strode through the corpses shrewdly laid around her. I found strength and walked over to her slowly. She turned in her glory and looked down at me, like a god. The sun rose quickly and just before I could hold her a sword pierced her heart. She gasped slightly and looked down at her chest. From the other side, a witch shouted and sacrificed himself for her, knowing she was the only chance we had. She smiled, now having his memories and she said a prayer of her people, from kin to kin.
I gasped, my sight focusing on the old woman Mina.
"I told you, you cannot fight fate. She is a witch but a very powerful one. She also has 3 other types of blood in her system. The council wants to use her against our other enemies" Mina helped me stand, stronger than I thought. "You heard what I said?" I asked still trying to figure out when this would happen. "Yes, you started to mumble but once it was underway you shouted, No, over and over again. I figured she died or you did" She shrugged, seemly unfazed by the vision. "I won't fall in love with her; if I do I won't be able to save her from the council. I need her alive for me" I started to shake and pushed the woman off me, as I calmly walked away from her, knowing that whatever choice I would make. I will lose her. Keeping people in the dark about who and what I am, is her only chance. I know that we would end up in a battle, I just hoped for the right side. I couldn't let Maya down.
I gasped, my sight focusing on the old woman Mina.
1 week later.....
"Hit me harder!" I shouted as she was weakly punched my arms. She will never survive like this... The voice in my head pointed out smugly. I shook my head, feeling powerless. "Your opponents have strength and speed over you! If you don't learn to fight you die" She stood looking up at me with dark brown eyes and my heart broke for her, but this was the only way I could save her. She swung up at my jaw and caught me. I staggered, recovering quickly before slicing her arm, sending blood drops scattering. "Good, now again!" I drilled this into her for the next 2 hours. Every so often she would speed up slightly and blur. I couldn't believe my eyes but soon after she would go back to human speed. The more we fought, the faster she would get. She then sent us both flying into the wall, rolling onto the floor.
I knew she would be of every species but it still amazed me when she showed this. She looked down, smiling sadly. I looked into her eyes, falling deep into the green pools. We were both running through the ages, hand in hand. I came back, sadness covering us both like a blanket. She moved off me. I faintly heard someone knocking at the door, Maya was as white as sheet, her brown eyes standing out. I could feel the emotions rolling off her. I ran towards the door. "Finally bro!" Joe came barreling at me, hugging me hard before releasing me. I laughed, returning the hug fondly. "Joe" Maya nodded, I could feel the anxiousness rolling off her. "I'll see you later" she moved towards the door, practically running out of the flat. "You aren't going anywhere missy. You have to kill a Vampire" Joe said, laughter still in his eyes.
