Scarlett's POV

A few nights later, I sat in my room looking through the pictures Tony had given me the day we went over to Jaime's house for a party. It still amazes me that he kept all these photos through out the years even tough him and Stephanie broke up and she was in a good 70% of them. I smiled looking at every single photograph and reading the back of it to see my mothers handwriting in pen, on all of them indicating what the date was and where the photo was taken. It made me miss her more.

"Scarlett?" I heard Rachel from the other side of my door. I quickly hid all the pictures under my pillow and paused Pierce the veil's A Match Into Water and crossed my legs waiting for the door to open. I decided to give the band a listen since I have never before.
"Come in" I told her. Soon she opened the door wearing her pyjamas-superman shorts and a grey Clairemont high gym shirt that must've been her's years ago- and came over to my bed sitting down.
"What's up?" She asked.
"Nothing just sitting here listening to pierce the veil for the first time"
"Ah I see. How do you like them?" She asked moving a stray hair from my face and putting it behind my ear.
"They're okay. I like two songs so far. Hold on till may and hell above"
"Have you checked out their other two albums?" I shook my head to say no.
"Not yet but I'm working on it. The screaming isn't my favourite thing in the world. Reminds me of my moms ex" I said giggling but it only put a worried look on her face.
"I'm joking Rachel"
"Oh thank god" she said putting a hand over her heart.
"I thought you were serious for a second"
"No don't worry" I grabbed my iPod from my nightstand and cleared the search bar typing in Pierce the veil albums finding selfish machines and a flair for the dramatic.
"Which one was their second album?" I asked her.
"Selfish machines. I feel like that was their most dramatic album because each song had such an amazing yet sad meaning behind it. Well then again that's how your father is with all the band's songs so" she trailed off. I nodded and looked at the songs finding Caraphernelia.
"I'm gonna take a wild guess and say this was written about my mom?" I asked showing her the screen.
"And I'm gonna leave it with your dad to tell you the actual story about them two, not the one your mom said kiddo" she said getting up.
"And I think it's time for bed. It's almost 11:30 and you have to wake up at 7" I nodded and pushed the comforter just enough for my feet to slide under and I laid down.
"Good night darling. I love you" she said kissing my forehead.
"Love you too" I told her as she left my room.

Rachel wasn't my mother of course, she wasn't even related to me but she treated me like her own child. She stays with me when Vic is out of the house and when I get home from school she listens to me when I want to complain about something and is the only other person I trust. She's like the sister I've always wanted but just old enough to be my mom.

I turned off my iPod and turned on my bedside light putting the photos from under my pillow to my sock drawer which was beside my bed and shut off the lamp turning over and closing my eyes.

Vic's POV

Rachel crawled into bed beside me at around 11:30 and sighed.
"What happened?" I asked turning over to face my girlfriend. She turned her head and looked at me. Her bangs falling out of place.
"She found Caraphernelia and asked if it was written about her mom and I told her that she should ask you but I doubt she will"
"Maybe she doesn't need to know the real story" I told her.
"Vic, her mom told her growing up her father committed suicide and then later died. She's now living with her dad who she found out wasn't actually dead and doesn't know the real story. I think she's old enough to know"
"Maybe she'll put the pieces together" I told her looking up at the ceiling.
"If it's anything like you, it'll take her years"
"Rachel enough" I warned her.
"I'm just telling you" she said raising her voice but still keeping quite so Scarlett wouldn't hear.
"And I'm telling you to stay out of this! This is about me and my daughter. Not me and you"
"I'm trying to help"
"Your help is not needed" I said getting up and grabbing my pillow.
"Where you going?"
"The couch. Good fucking night" I said walking out of the room and to the living room where I'll be sleeping for the night since I have some respect and didn't kick her out of my own bed.
