Nineteen

Vic's POV

As I paced back and forth in my apartment, alcohol bottle in hand and Mike on the couch calling our parents, I tried to think back to the last time I spoke to my daughter.
"Uh two days ago" I told the officer on the other end.
"And how would you physically describe your daughter?" She asked.
"Uh. Blonde hair, green eyes, about 5'1 or so, button nose, pierced ears. Last time I saw her she had fake tappers you know like those sticks you stretch your ears with but fake-"
"Sir I know what those are" she said cutting me off.
"Right sorry. Uh she was last seen wearing black and white hi top vans, white skinny jeans and a blue t-shirt that said adorkable on it" I told her.
"When did you notice she was missing mister Fuentes?"
"About two hours ago. I was at the studio yesterday all day meaning I didn't see her in the morning and when I got home her bedroom door was closed so I thought she was in there but today, her school called me saying she's been absent two days in a row and I knew something was wrong because she never skips school" I explained.
"And where is your apartment located sir?"
"South San Diego. 115 Mission Bay ave if you need the address"
"Okay thank you sir. We'll send a rescue search in just a few moments" I thanked her and hung up to look at Mike who is still on the phone.

"No ma, you don't get it. We've called everyone we know and they haven't seen her, Vic hasn't seen her since Tuesday night. Even Danielle is looking for her" he explained. I pulled a barstool out from under the counter and sat on it laying my head in my hands.
How could I have let her run away? I'm a terrible father for not noticing she was gone till today. Where could she have gone. And it's not like I know any of her friends so I could contact them.
"Okay. And no not yet. Tony is out in L.A picking up something then he's coming over. Yes ma Jaime is on his way too. Okay love you. Bye" and then the room became silent.

"Mike" I said like a child looking up from my hands. He got up and walked over to me pulling me into a hug and rubbing my head.
"Hey. We'll find her okay? We basically have a search party going on. If someone notices her, they'll bring her back here Vic"
"What if she willingly ran away? What if I'm that terrible of a father that-"
"Hey" he said letting go of me and looking into my eyes.
"You are not a terrible father. You have been trying again and again and again and haven't given up on her. You aren't a terrible father"
"Yes I am"
"I'm gonna smack you" he warned making a small smile play on my lips.
"It's true Mike. What if-"
"There's always millions of what ifs but they don't matter"
"My little girl is gone"
"We'll get her back. I promise"

Scarlett's POV

I walked out of the hair salon on Thursday after school with my newly dyed chocolate brown hair-Rachel wouldn't let me do black- we walked to the car and I pushed down the mirror on the roof to look at myself one more time.
"It looks so cool! Thanks again Rachel"
"I hope you like it kid. I spent $80 on that" she said starting the car and reversing out of the parking lot.
"I know I saw you pay. But I promise I'll pay you back" I told her making her giggle and look at me for a split second.
"Yeah. Okay scar"
"I will" I said giggling.
"Has Vic called you yet?" She asked changing the subject.
"Uh he messaged me. He says he misses me"
"When he coming back?"
"Sunday night"
"Tell him you're in good hands" I inhaled a sharp breath and smiled at her nodding.

When we got home, Rachel had made chicken nuggets and fries for us to eat so we ate and then my phone buzzed-Rachel's wifi is now working- and I unlocked it to see a message from Danny.

Danny!: hey cutie. La8er me Austin and Tay are gonna have some fun since my rents came back early. What do u say, wanna join? ;)
Me: I'll have to ask Rachel but I'm pretty sure she'll say yes so sure. What time
Danny!: 9 but say ur hanging out at Tay's. Go there around 6. And did u dye ur hair yet?? O.o
Me: ok. And yeah. It's brown! >.<
Danny!: hot!
Danny!:ok I'll see u then bby
Me: see ya! <3

"Rachel?" She hm'ed in response.
"Can I hang out at Taylor's house for a little? Her older sister who's 17 is home and she said I can"
"What time?" She asked.
"Uh 6?" She looked at the time on the stove. 5:37pm.
"Is your homework done?" I nodded.
"Then yeah. You finished eating?" I looked down at the plate that was quarter eaten and nodded.
"You sure?" She asked.
"Yes Rachel I'm sure"
"Alright" I got up and put everything in the garbage then putting my plate in the sink and heading to my room to grab my shoes and jacket for the night.

Rachel's POV (ou here's a twist)

When I got back from dropped Scarlett off at her friends in San Diego, I sat on the couch and turned to the news to see what's going on when 'breaking news: missing child ' popped up making me sit up right.
'child missing from her home in San Diego' showed at the bottom of the screen. That's when the news chick came on.
"Scarlett Crawford or Scarlett Fuentes as she is known for has been missing from her father's apartment in San Diego since Tuesday night" she explained. My eyes widened as Scarlett's school year photo showed up on the screen.
"Her father described her as short, blonde hair, green eyes last seen wearing white skinny jeans, a blue t-shirt and vans-" I ignored the rest of the description now realizing what Scarlett told me was bullshit and that she ran away from Vic.

I grabbed my phone and scrolled down my contacts searching for the last person I'd want to speak to ever again.
"Hello?" His tired voice spoke.
"Vic?"
"Speaking"
"I know where Scarlett is" I told him.

Scarlett's POV

Danny and Austin picked us up at 9 in different cars. Danny's parents-well dad's- car was a blue Subaru wrx 2006 model and Austin's mom's was a black Dodge Charger.
"I like the hair beautiful" he complimented.
"Thanks"
"Ready to have some fun?" Danny asked me as I got in. I nodded and he smiled at me shifting the stick or however you'd call a standard stick. Vic and Mike both drive automatic so I wouldn't know anything about this.
"Trust me. It's gonna be a wild ride"  and he drove off behind Austin's car.

We got to an abandon mall parking lot and this time Austin followed Danny up to the fifth floor where I'm assuming they usually go.
When we got up, Austin and Tay got out followed by Danny but I stayed in the car.
"Come on chicken" Danny said looking at me. I got out and sat on the hood just like Tay was doing.
As the two boys spoke, Tay cleared her throat.
"It's gonna be fun scar. They said they're gonna do the best routine they've ever done to please us" she said.
"I'm guessing this isn't your first time in a car with two eighth graders"
"That's right"
"Okay. In the car. Now. Both of you" Austin directed after a few minutes. We obeyed and got into our boyfriends cars without saying a word. This was going to be an adventurous night.

I'm back!
There's only this chapter, one more then it's an epilogue. After that I'm starting a new book from my bio in which you guys should tell me what one to start!
