CHAPTER TWO

"You're a fool." Levana hissed, clutching her glass of champagne tighter than need be. Kai turned.

"You know, I've had about....I think every single senator tell me the exact same thing today," he replied, ignoring Levana's sneer and setting his own glass on a waiter's tray.

There was no one Kai hated more than Queen Levana Blackburn. Technically she wasn't even a queen. A drama queen, yes, but she was actually just a senator just like everyone else. She just preferred to be called queen instead, because Senator Blackburn didn't sound as nice as Queen Levana.

She was powerful, and demanding, she supported the First Order, but what Kai hated the most was how utterly gorgeous she was. It was almost painful to look at her, she was so beautiful. Her full, blood red lips, her perfect figure, her heart shaped face, her perfect auburn curls. Her perfect everything. It was disgusting.

And mixed with her bittersweet personality...

"I'm not surprised," Levana spat. "Help the Resistance? You're insane."

"Heard that one too. Although, isn't that what people say to your daughter?" he smirked, about to walk off, but he felt Levana's long red nails digging into his shoulder.

"Last I checked, my stepdaughter" she exaggerated the word, "was not important to this conversation."

"Last I checked, I've already had this conversation multiple times. And my answer has not changed, Senator. I still think we should help them. There's still a Dark Side to this everlasting war. Now, if you'll please excuse me," he pried her fingers away, "I have someplace to be."

"You'll regret this, my dear senator," Levana called.

"So will you," he shot back, ignoring the dirty looks and ugly comments thrown at him as he strode down the hall.

"I had it! I. Had. It." someone said loudly.

"I was just trying to help!" someone responded.

"Well, you screwed it up! Again!" Someone in a red jacket came in, bickering with a taller man in a leather one. Cress's eyes widened when she saw who it was.

"I was just-" Thorne sighed as Scarlet stormed off towards General Organa. Cinder followed close behind, looking slightly shaken, and Iko was close behind, chipper as always.

Cress smiled and came out from behind her desk in the corner, running through the various consoles and people and throwing her arms around Thorne.

"Hey!" he chuckled, returning the hug.

"I'm so happy you're back," Cress beamed, finally pulling away.

"So am I. You know, the general should really stop sending me as Scarlet's copilot. I'm pretty sure if we have to work together again, I won't be coming back in one piece. And it won't be because the ship crashed."

"Oh my," Cress giggled, looking over at Scarlet, who was dramatically telling General Organa about what Cress assumed was how Thorne had almost killed all of them with his flying skills.

"So what did you do while I was gone, besides miss my charming smile?" Thorne winked.

"The usual," she sighed.

"Ah. Staying at your desk and not talking to anyone. Fun."

"Extremely..."

Cress was super shy. She hated talking to anyone, unless it was Thorne.

Everyone said it was just a side effect of not having any interaction with living things for seven years, and they seemed to understand, which Cress appreciated greatly.

She had been taken from her parents at a very young age for the First Order's stormtrooper program. But, sadly, she "didn't meet the requirements" and was thrown out at the age of nine. Tiny little Cress was stuck in an escape pod, eventually finding some sort of abandoned satellite, and lived there for seven whole years with nothing but computers.

Strangely, the satellite ad been stocked with enough preserved food to feed the entire Republic for at least two years, so she had rationed it out for herself and survived on that. The water was recycled, and it was a very long seven years. But the satellite was stocked with a ton of technology, and with nothing else to do, Cress had taught herself how to use computers. She programmed a sort of friend for herself, but that was only a computer.

When Thorne had found her while on a mission a few months ago, that was the first human interaction she had had in years, and she was even shy around him. The people she had been around for the first nine years of her life hadn't been the kindest to her, and that left her wary of everyone she met.

Thorne had taken her back to the Resistance base on D'Qar, where General Organa was happy to give her a place.

Thorne caught her up on what she hadn't known about what had happened in the world and after nearly three months on the base, Cress was finally starting to open up a little more.

"Hi Cress!" someone said cheerily. Cress turned to see Iko, Cinder's lively droid friend.

"Hello, Iko," Cress smiled, brushing a strand of her cropped hair behind her ear. Iko was one of the people that Cress had easily befriended. At first she thought that it was because Iko was a machine, but she later realized that Iko was the most humanoid droid she had ever met.

Although, she hadn't met many droids.

"Thorne was telling me about the mission," Cress explained. "Is Scarlet exaggerating again?"

"Yes," Thorne muttered irritably, shooting a glare in Scarlet's direction.

"A teeny bit," Iko replied. Thorne rolled his eyes. Iko laughed and nudged his shoulder. "I'm kidding! You're actually a pretty decent pilot. Not as god as Scarlet-"

"Thanks."

"Oh come on, she's almost as good as Poe. No one can come close to Poe. Except Scarlet. Scarlet can."

Thorne shrugged. "True. Speaking of Poe, have you heard anything else, or did he actually.....?"

 ✰

"Rough day?" Wolf asked.

"Yes," Scarlet grumbled, walking into his outstretched arms.

"I'm glad you're safe," Wolf said. Scarlet smiled.

"I just wish I knew where Poe was. I know he isn't dead, no matter what General Organa says. He just can't be."

"I agree. He's stronger than that."

Scarlet and Wolf had been together for a little over two months, about the time Thorne had brought Cress in. They had met when Scarlet had gotten captured by the First Order for the umpteenth time, and Wolf (formerly LSOP-962,before the Order had started using less letters and more numbers) had been looking for a way to escape. He had aided Scarlet out of the star destroyer, and in return she helped him get away. She was angry at him at first, due to their opposing sides of the war, but she finally got over it after realizing that he had truly hated the program and despised himself for all the blood he had on his hands.

Scarlet smiled and kicked off her boots, curling up next to Wolf on the couch in her quarters.

Hey friends! It's Ninja again, me and Sam agreed on letting me finish up the introductions since I kind of have an idea of what I'm doing and she can't think of anything yet XP  The next chapter will most definitely be hers though! :)
