"I'm questioning the validity
of the ground beneath me,
you see, I'm falling for you,
for the soft behind your
eyes, I'm lost in the corners
of your smile and the waves
crashing in your hair,
languishing and drifting
away to somewhere high, an
altitude from where I don't
want to come down, from
where I don't even try, this
is what it means to be swept
away."Jho
I woke up the next morning alone and disappointed. I expected arms wrapped around me and a beautiful face sleeping soundly, but there was none.
Where's Bea?
I got up from bed and did all my routines before preparing coffee. I exited the room and found Bea wearing her earphones, bobbing her head up and down while cooking in my kitchen.
I wouldn't mind waking up to this everyday.
A pleasant smell of pancakes, bacon and eggs hung in the air. My favorites.
I approached her, quietly slithered my arms around her waist and pressed my lips on her back. She was startled upon my sudden gesture, but smiled when she caught a glimpse of me when she craned to the side.
"Good morning, angel. Slept well?" She asked, her tone sweet.
I blushed at the word 'angel'. I nodded in response.
"Too clingy, Jho. You missed me that quick?"
I slapped her arm weakly and laughed.
"I'll wait for you at the table," I said then sauntered off to prepare us coffee.
We ate in a comfortable silence and I was busy stealing glances at Bea. Whenever she'd catch me, she would often smile while looking down on her food. I don't know what she was thinking but I found it cute and I was hoping that her smiles were all because of me.
Our mood was disrupted by a loud ring from her phone. She frowned when she saw the caller ID and cursed.
"Shit!" She ran towards my room and answered the call.
Bea
Mom calling...
"Shit!" I can't help but curse. I'm in deep trouble.
I forgot to tell my parents that I left the house last night and I am certain that by now they're freaking out.
Kasalanan mo to, Beatriz.
I press the answer button, closed my eyes and braced myself.
"Isabel Beatriz Paras De Leon, where are you?" My mother asked calmly.
This is much worse than shouting. I know they're disappointed by what I've done. I never go out without asking for permission since my health issues started, but I had no time to explain what I was about to do or why I was going out that's why I decided to sneak out.
"I'm at Jho's condo mom. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I spent the night here," I answered, thumb twiddling.
"What are you doing there?"
"I'll explain later, okay? I'll bring her to dinner if she's not busy."
"Okay, drive safely. We were worried."
"I'm really sorry, Mom. Please tell dad too. I love you both. Bye!"
I returned to the dining table. I glanced at Jho, confusion etched on her face.
