Damian shot out of the seat as soon as the bell rang. What the notes had said rang through his head. He knew that he would have to tell Lindsay, but what if she decided to tell everyone? Or ignore him? Judge him? Think he was just a confused lesbian? Try and 'fix' him like many had before? Sighing, he shook his head, seeing he got to his locker and set his books in it after opening it, fixing his hair in the small mirror than everyone had in their locker.
"Hey Beast." He heard a girls voice behind him say, and he knew who it was automatically.
"Ah, hat stealer!" He spun around, looking into the eyes of the shorter sophomore.
"It looks better on me!"
"You wish!" He said, motioning for her to walk with him as he closed his locker.
"I don't wish I know!" He smiled, shrugging and looking around. He was following her lead for a little bit, observing his surrounding. And the glares he was getting from a boy in a football jersey.
"Uh, who's big, mean, and scary in the jersey?" He asked, motioning to the boy.
"Oh that's Joe." She told him, sighing inwardly. She shot a dirty look to her ex boyfriend, as he smirked in return.
"You know him?"
"Junior. We uh dated a few times." She said, looking down.
"Oh. Now I get the dirty looks." She giggled, hearing his joking tone.
"I'm sorry about that! It was a long time ago."
"Are you seeing anyone now?" He asked her before he could stop himself, as she shook her head and he had to hide the small smile threatening to form.
"Are you Mr. Marvel?" She asked, referring to his hat she had stolen earlier.
"No I'm not. I don't think any girl is crazy enough to date me!" He said as she laughed. They talked for awhile and he bought both their lunches, easily finding a table for just the two outside the school by the football field. But, their time had to end when the bell rang signaling for the two to go their separate ways for class. They walked back in in the building, clearly taking their time as Damian saw Cameron. He smiled and turned to Lindsay.
"So this is goodbye eh? Wish it wasn't. Not many days I get to spend lunch with a beautiful upperclassmen." He said, trying to be charming.
"Thanks Damian. This was fun!" She said as she gave him a quick peck on the cheek, then walked away as he stood there, stunned. Cameron walked over and smiled, patting his best friends back.
"Kiss on the cheek huh? That's a little friendly for school!" He pointed out as Damian broke out in a goofy smile, putting a hand on the cheek she had kissed.
"D-Do you think she likes me?" Damian asked, a little hopeful.
"She might. But you have to tell her at some point Damian..." He said sadly, letting the sentence go slow as Damian snapped out of his trance, moving away from his friend.
"I-I know. Just give me a little time. Get her alone. I'll tell her. Okay?"
"Okay."
