EVELYN'S POV
"Ugh, James I can't believe I'm not going to the same school as you tomorrow." I pount.
"Same." He frowns.
We're lying on his bed, our heads hanging over the edge, upside down. His dark hair grows to a length where it's right behind his ears, but it wont stay there when he's upside down. He keeps having to tuck it back to keep it from blowing in his eyes from the air conditioning.
"School won't be the same without you." He sighs.
"At least you know other people at school, I don't know anyone."
"True." He sits up. "Hey, cheer up, you'll make friends and we'll still see each other hopefully every week, right?"
I smile, "Yeah, you're right."
We make the most of the last day of summer and by the time I have to go home, I feel ready to face my new school.I've never been that person who gets to school super early, but apparently everyone else in GAIS is. When my mom pulls up to the school 15 minutes early, the campus is already full of students. We walk to the front office and I get my schedule and all that stuff. By the time we're done, it's time for me to get to class.
I say bye to my mom and the secretary walks me around the school as a sort of tour. The school is small enough. It only has about 400 students and it goes from preschool to high school. As I said, a small school. When we've walked around the whole school she leads me to my class and walks me in to introduce me.ALEXA'S POV
There's only 4 minutes until class starts, I look around the room. No new girl. Could Zoella have just lied to get attention?
It seems as if the rest of the class is thinking the same thing because everyone is looking at Zoella who's looking expectantly at the door, then turning to look at Pablo. She does this over and over, as if she's on an infinite loop.
Pablo's one of the reasons I hate her so much. She likes Pablo and I also like Pablo. Well so do a lot of the other girls, but me and Zoella are the craziest about him. I'm not as crazy as Zoella who's a freakin stalker, but you get what I mean.
Zoella sees me as a sort of threat, and I guess I feel the same about her. The thing that I'm kind of annoyed about is that I'm pretty sure Pablo doesn't like me like that, or at all because Zoella trash talks me to him every chance she gets.
I peer over at Pablo out of the corner of my eye. He's sitting with his best friends Jacob and Nikita. Jacob's basically glaring at Zoella and Nikita is just laughing away, which isn't a rare case. Nikita is always laughing. Pablo, on the other hand is peering at Zoella out of the corner of his eye. He looks kind of freaked out, which makes me laugh. Zoella is pretty scary, and I bet she's 200 times scarier when she's obsessed with you. Poor Pablo.
Our English teacher takes role, and when she finishes, as if on cue, the door opens to reveal our vice principal and a girl whom I've never seen before. This must be our new student.
They step in and the dark haired girl with bright sea green eyes is introduced to us as Evelyn Phillips. She smiles at us and gives a small wave.
"Alexa, could you show Evelyn around for the day and introduced her to everyone?" The teacher asks.
"Uh, yeah, definitely." I stutter. Everyone knows I'm not the most outgoing girl in the class, I kind of expected Zoella or Zara to be asked to do this job.
I smile at Evelyn as she takes a seat next to me, she does the same.EVELYN'S POV
When I scan the class the first thing I notice is the separation between genders, except for one guy sitting with a table of girls. The second thing I notice is that basically all the guys in the class are cute. I shake that second thought away as I am introduced. I try not to look at anyone in particular, all eyes are on me. A girl with an almost artificial smile waves at me. Then a third thought comes to my mind. There are like less than 20 people in this class, I snicker to myself. My old school had some classes of 30-something people.
I am directed to sit next to a girl with long blonde hair, who, even sitting down, I can tell is tall. She smiles at me shyly. Her name is Alexa. We start off the class with ice breakers and all that first week of school shit which seems pointless to everyone but me.
