"Okay, here's the plan," the red fox spoke near breathlessly as he and his partner were basically running towards the ZPD building, all while he was still simultaneously trying to adjust his collar. "You go in and act like there was massive traffic. Then I come in a couple minutes later and say I was holding up traffic looking for my contact lenses. Got it?"
"You're a very good detective, Wilde, but you need to freshen up on those lies. You've been on the light side far to long to have lost that much skill."
"There. Was. Traffic."
"We were carpooling and—"
"We were carpooling and there was traffic. Easy."
Judy nodded slowly, as if making sure Nick was comprehending his own words.
She wasn't sure sometimes.Right upon entering the building and gaining their composure, the two approached Clawhauser's desk; and the cheetah seemed surprised to see them.
They were late.
Three hours passed role call, to be exact."Well, good morning."
"Yeah, yeah. Mormon' Clawhauser. Where—"
"Shooting range,"
"Thanks—"
The two were off once again running.
Once they reached the shooting range, the muffled sound of gun fire, laughter, and a strong lecture could be overheard through the glass and safety door separating that part of the ZPD from the rest.
"Remember. Carpooling, traffic—"
"I found 'em!" An officer exclaimed back to Jack within the shooting range.
The officer in question was a female pig; Officer Swinton.
This officer was actually a very good friend of Judy and Nicks, as were most to the pair, so it was a little strange that she would just call the two out to Jack like that. But, he was watching.
As the door had opened, and both Nick and Judy turned to see exactly what they were dealing with, they were met with the red hot face and frustrating tapping of a foot as Jack Savage approached them both.
"Officer Wilde, row four, Next to Fangmeyer and McHorn. Go put on the glasses and get started with your aim and line up." Jack stated the second he was close enough for the two to hear him, and gave off assignments immediately.
His ears stood straight up on his head.
He was mad.Nick didn't hesitate to nod before going over, picking his protective glasses up, squeezing next to Officers Fangmeyer and McHorn in the shooting range, and attempt at beginning his delayed training for the day.
Nick knew what would happen if he started trouble.
He didn't need that.
Judy didn't need that.
Not now, he thought, not now."Officer Hopps," Jack said to Judy. "If you could," He gestured to the door, and when Judy turned to look at exactly what he may have been gesturing took, the rabbit placed his hand onto the same of his species shoulder, turned her completely around, and led her out of the range.
Nick noticed.
Not now.Jack took Officer Hopps out of the range, and a few feet down the hall.
Their voices could not be heard over the gunfire in the range, but whichever mammals stayed out within the hall or went wandering about the police department could hear the two loud and clear."Officer Hopps, good morning."
"Good—"
"Explain to me why you and that fox were late." Jack demanded.
He really wasted no time at all.
