"These are the new recruits. Zeke, Uriah, and Tris Pedrad. Pedrads, this is Will, Al, Christina, and Four."

I look at each person in turn as Eric points them out. I wonder which of them is my new partner?

Eric answers my question. "Four your partner is Tris. Zeke and Uriah, you both are partners." Then he leaves the room without another word.

I look over at my new partner. His mouth is hanging open as he looks at me. "My new partner is a girl?"

One of the guys, Will, puts a hand on Four's shoulder. "Dude, it's alright."

Four turns to look at him, closing his mouth and locking his jaw. He glares at Will and then storms out of the room.

Was it something I said?

The girl, Christina, turns to me. "I'm sorry. Four can have a temper sometimes. And he wasn't expecting his new partner to be a girl." She looked really apologetic.

"It's fine. I actually was first in my training class..." I trail off. Why do guys always think that girls can't do anything? It gets on my nerves.

"Well, we'll leave you to unpack. We can take you to the apartment building down the street later when you're ready." Al says.

They all go to their desks and do whatever. I turn to my desk. I put my backpack on the chair and unzip it. I pull out some pictures that I had thought to bring last second. One picture is of me and my brothers in front of a Ferris wheel at a carnival. Another is of us and our parents sitting on the stairs in age order. One is of me and Uriah when we were younger, dressed up like military soldiers. And one is of me and Zeke, him giving me a piggy back ride.

I tack all four pictures onto the wall in front of my desk. There's a little board there. Then I pull out my laptop and set it on the desk. I find an outlet right by my desk. Yes! I plug in my laptop charger and then I charge my phone to.I st my book off to the side and place my earbuds on top of it. I put my ipod next to my phone.

Now my desk doesn't look so empty. I look over to see that Uriah chose the desk next to mine. Zeke is on the other side of him.

I remember seeing a door labeled 'Training Room'. I want to go check it out.

"Zekey, Uri, I'm going to go check out the training room we passed on our way here. If you need me I'll be in there." They both nod so I grab my back pack and walk out of the room.

I open the training room door and see a big room with all types of equipment. I go to the far side where there are locker rooms. I walk inside the girls and find lockers and showers. I open an empty locker and set my back pack inside. Then I pull out my black tank top and some grey sweatpants. I put some old tennis shoes on and then walk back into the gym.

I see a wall of punching bags so I head over there. I start doing some techniques that Tori taught me. I do this for awhile before I hear a sound behind me. I turn around to see Four.

"What are you doing here?" He asks me. What does he think I'm doing here?

"Umm... working out. What else would I be doing in here?" Then I notice that he's not wearing a shirt. Whoa. I quickly look back up at his face.

"I was just wondering why you were here." He mumbles and starts walking away. That's it. I've had enough with his attitude.

"Four. What is your problem? You have been acting like a child since I've met you. Yea, I know I'm a girl. I'm proud of that. Plus, I was first in my training class finishing in two weeks instead of a month. And I don't know why you think that girls can't do anything that guys can't do but they can. Sometimes they can do it even better. So stop moping around and act like a mature adult. I'm your partner whether you like it or not." Wow. That was a long speech. Longer than I intended it to be that's for sure.

"What makes you think you can talk to me?" He asks quietly. I would feel better if he had yelled. It makes it worse when he uses that quiet voice. He sounds... dangerous.

"Maybe because you're so approachable. Like a bed of nails." Yea I know, I need to work on using better expressions.

He raises an eyebrow at me. "Were you really first in your training class? And did you really finish training in two weeks?"

"Yep. Why else would I be in the special group?"

"Just wondering."

"Okay then. If you'll excuse me. I'm punching right now."

He nods and then walks off. I turn back around to my punching bag. At least he'll accept me as his partner now.

I start punching again. I punch and punch and punch. I punch until my knuckles start to get bloody. Once they turn bloody I walk back to the locker rooms and take a quick shower. Then I hop out to dry off and put my clothes from earlier back on.

Then I walk back to the office.
