Three days later Charlotte and I walked along the Charing Cross road when I saw a sign poking out. The sign said ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ on it and I pointed to it.

“Think that’s the place?” I asked.

“What? That place, no it can’t be, it’s all broken down and old.” Charlotte said.

I looked back at it, walking over. I opened the door to see it was buzzing with activity. I turned back to Charlotte grinning. She sighed and walked over. We stepped inside and looked around. I saw a man mixing his tea… without touching his spoon. I turned and grinned at the short brunette woman next to me.

“Told ya so!” I said all giddy.

We walked over to the bar and Charlotte called for the man who was working there.

“Um excuse me, but how do we get to Diagon Alley?” She asked him.

The man frowned and looked at us both.

“Shouldn’t she know?” He asked pointing to me.

“Um, actually, no. I only just found out that I was a witch.” I said awkwardly.

“Oh really?” He asked. “And why only now?”

“Um, I have really annoying sisters and for the past three years they have kept my mail hidden.” I said glancing around as eyes started to look at us.

“Mmm, hmmm.” He said non-believing.

The door opened suddenly and a tall man with circular glasses came in. He had black hair and a boy about Annabeth’s age with him. He turned over an saw us talking to the man.

“Hi ya Tom, how are you?” He asked walking over.

“Good thanks Mr Potter.” The man replied.

“So, you must be Avril Cole? And your guardian?” He asked and I nodded in return. “Good, well, Professor Toadlor has asked me if I might be able to show you around and help you get your things. Oh, and this is my son, Albus”

“Thank you.” Charlotte smiled at him.

We followed Mr Potter to the back of the shop to a door that lead to a brick wall. I stared at it confused when Mr Potter pulled a wand out and tapped it in a couple of spots. For a moment nothing happened then, the bricks started to move. I gaped at it and followed Mr Potter slowly as he walked in. I looked around, not sure what to actually look at.

There were shops of all shapes, sizes, and colours, all with names like ‘Madam Malkins Robes for all Occasions’ ‘Quality Quidditch Supplies’ (What’s Quidditch?) ‘Eeylops Owl Emporium’ and more. We walked along until we came across a huge building. Gringotts Wizarding Bank. I looked at M Potter.

“This is Gringotts, there’s no safer place than here, except maybe Hogwarts.” Mr Potter said, a look coming over his face making me think he might have been quoting someone. “Come on, let’s go set up a bank. You can’t use muggle money here.”

“Um, Mr Potter, what’s a muggle?” I asked as we headed to the building.

“Non-magic folk.” He said and we walked in.

I looked around with my eyes open wide.

“Wh-what are those things?” I whispered to Albus and he grimaced.

“Goblins, Dad say they’re some of the smartest creatures around, but they’re not friendly!” He replied keeping his head down.

The things were short and fair skinned, as if they didn’t spend much time outside, which I guess they didn’t. They had really long hands and nails, and their heads were dome shaped. They had slanted eyes and pointed noses with matching ears and quite a few had bald heads. We walked along to one of them and Mr Potter looked up at the goblin.
