You'd never run so fast, you didn't know whether it was hope or fear, but it propelled you forward. You halted at security, the only people who didn't seem to mind how you looked, probably because they'd seen it all in this airport already - the comings and goings of the Vegas airport must have seen everything by now.

The gates flew past and people with cases cursed you as you weaved in and out of them down hallway - your heart was locked on the number 77, you hoped the 7s would be lucky for you.

70....73...75...77
You couldn't breathe as you reached the gate, gasping for air (a real life reminder that your life behind a computer in your safe little fangirl world hadn't exactly kept your cardio up to scratch). You searched through the faces of those sitting down at the gate - no, no, no, no your brain told you as you flicked through the faces in front of you not seeing the one you wanted.
As you scanned the final person you realised there was no Simon, not at this gate anyway, and you knew your disappointment was spread across your face plain for the world to see. Hey but at least it's one less gate to check? your brain said, trying to find a silver lining amongst the disappointment that he wasn't there with you right now. "Alright, off to the next gate" you whispered to yourself.."shit what were the other gate options?" you searched your mind blankly.
You didn't need to think about it for more than two seconds as Y/BF/N sprinted into your sight and stopped right in front of you.
"They aren't at gate 120....and by the look on your face I'm guessing they aren't here either"
"Gate 25″ you both said at the same time, not being sure if you were more excited or nervous - both of you felt sure that Cal probably wasn't the best person to find them first after all that had happened.

By the time you reached gate 40 your chest was on fire and you must have looked insane heaving for air, hands on knees and bent in the middle, combined with what you looked like - but as you turned the next corner Cal ran straight into you. You hit him face first and stumbled backwards.
"What are you doing here?" you spluttered at him between breaths and regaining your stance
"Me? What are you doing here?" he replied, breathing almost as heavily as we were
"...we didn't find them" you said
"Oh..." Cal hesitated, his eyes falling to the tiled floor.
Y/BF/N looked at you with nothing to say, the situation causing tears to well in the back of your eyes and prickle in your vision, and finally a tear fell from your eye and drifted down your cheek - the reality had played out in front of you - you'd done all you could, but that was it....he was gone.

Then came a deafening silence between the three of you, the airport continued in its usual haste all around but not a sound or movement broke between the three of you. Even your brain was too upset to think about anything, and then Y/BF/N suddenly said "Fuck it" and sprinted off to the nearest desk, ran behind the counter, ducked down and must has pressed on the PA system as her voice rang out across the aiport:
"Simon Minter and Olajide Olatunji! I repeat Simon Minter and Olajide Olatunji - if you are in this airport please report immediately to gate number 40, there has been an issue with your tickets, please report to gate number 40″
You were completely shocked and couldn't help but laugh nervously, surely that could not be legal and any of you ending up in jail wouldn't exactly make the situation any more fun. You were caught between shock and awe, and despite the fact her voice had sounded very professional, you were certain that would not pass to any real airport staff, but maybe guests.

As staff appeared from everywhere, pointing and speaking softly to one another, she left the counter and subtly sat in a chair next to a boy, looking across his arm at the phone he was using, acting as though she knew him - all while air hostesses paced around trying to figure out what had just happened sending people looking everywhere.
You'd never stop being envious of her for that, her ability to just do crazy and embarrassing things and just act calm as a cucumber straight after, as if she didn't have a worry or care in her brain.
Leaning against the nearest post laughing hysterically, while Cal walked over to give her a slow clap and congratulate her on her pure talent.

"Y/N..." a familiar voice from behind you said and you turned to see JJ facing you, with Simon stopped 10 feet behind him...starting at you...frozen...with an emotion across his face that you didn't recognise, but whatever it was, you you knew it wasn't joy....
