As the plane hit the ground it felt as though your stomach fell out of your body and hit the ground with it, the leap of faith happiness had worn off and you had been nervously taring parts off of a piece of paper for the past hour. As the planed pulled up to the gate, the seatbelt sign was turned off and you stood awaiting to disembark, you tried not to think about how you had just blown a good part of your savings on some ridiculous notion, or the worse thought that crept its way across your mind - that Simon might not even show up.
One step at a time you thought as you edged down the plan towards the front door.
Half of your brain wanted to laugh out loud at yourself for being so stupid; Simon was already in the city, he just had to show up, not fly across the state like you had done and he wanted you to come, it was his idea! So you had nothing to worry about....
But the other half couldn't stop worrying, or thinking about every single detail (mainly the bad ones), from the last few days. Overthinking was your ultimate downfall - always had been, always would be - it had ruined things in the past and caused you far too many sleepless nights filled with anxiety. Ironically enough those sleepless anxious nights were usually filled with Sidemen videos as a calmer, but somehow that irony didn't seem funny to you at this moment. All you could hope was that when it came down to it, that you would be able to shut your brain off and know what to do. You took a deep breath and got off the plane, walked down the tunnel and forced yourself to look up from the floor as you arrived at the gate lounge.
You didn't even have to search for him, he was standing there in all his tall lanky glory hovering over the rest of the people around him, looking quite stone faced and concerned. He didn't see you straight away, your height meant you blended into the crowd around you, that and you were finally clean faced and normal looking - which he probably wasn't used to seeing from you either. But when you finally caught his eye, an undeniable smile broke out across his face, combined with the start of a blush and he ran his fingers through the side of his hair and stopped it on the back of his head with his elbow in the air and other hand on his hip while he turned his head to the side to try and hide it from you.
"Hey" he said as you walked up to him
"Just a bit happy to see me Minter?" you said as you reached up and pulled his face into yours and placed a kiss on his lips, his lips pulling away from yours and trying to hide his smile suddenly
"Y'know, it's cool you came, whatever" he replied and you lightly pushed him in the chest as he laughed
"So, I hate to say this again but, now what?" you asked him, in complete honesty - you didn't know what was next, or where you were going, or staying.
"I thought you might ask that, but I have a hotel sorted and a surprise for later" he smiled down at you, "oh... with two rooms, at the hotel...I booked two rooms, I mean... I didn't know... yeah" he continued awkwardly, looking away from you bashfully, suddenly becoming this shy boy
"That was really thoughtful of you Simon" you told him, his eyes interlocking back with yours once again - the thought that he'd made plans for you both and thought about your arrival made the leap worthwhile, even if it was just a day or two
"Well, let's get out of here then" he said, grabbing your bag and turning around, sliding his arm down yours and interlocking his fingers with yours, the gesture making you both pause and smile at one another. That unexplainable feeling was back again, floating through your body like waves in the ocean and it was... everything.
