Dad pulled into the driveway and turned off the car. I took my seatbelt off and opened the door before walking around to the back of the car to get the bags of clothes Louis bought me out. I couldn’t shake the thoughts of what Louis offered. ‘Tell you what, if you’re so eager to kiss a guy, I’ll kiss you’ he said. Was he being serious? I wondered what my parents might think if I went along with Louis’ offer. They probably wouldn’t be happy with me…
“Lexi? Are you okay?” My mother asked me as soon as I walked through the door. I shook my previous thoughts from my head and gave her a smile. I nodded and gave her a one-arm hug. The other arm was carrying the two bags of clothes. “What did you buy? I thought you were at the office today?” She asked and I handed her the bags while I took off my shoes.
“We all sat down to write songs but we figured we needed inspiration, so we all went shopping. Louis bought me clothes.” I said simply and mum looked at me suspiciously.
“Why did Louis buy you clothes? I assume he’s one of the One Direction boys… Are you two dating?” She pressed and I shook my head as fast as it could go. Why do parents always jump to conclusions?
“No, I just told him that I wanted to try and dress more normally, so he took me shopping while the other boys went and did their own thing. I’m going to pay him back though mum. We definitely aren’t dating.” I told her with a smile as she pulled out the t-shirt with the batman symbol on it.
“Did he help you pick these clothes?” She asked me, eyeing the tight material. I nodded, but when she looked disgusted at the short shorts, I knew I had to say something.
“Yeah, he helped me pick clothes but he made me try everything on and he wouldn’t let me get anything too short or revealing.” I told her. She held up the pair of shorts and looking at them now, they did look really short. “On me, those look longer.” I told her and she nodded but didn’t seem to believe me as much as she could. She handed me the two bags back and I took them up to my room.
I saw the stack of demos I had to evaluate and I groaned. I had too much on my mind to do anything serious. I had a little bit of homework to do as well, but I really couldn’t be bothered. I took out my phone and texted Lou to tell him my mum’s reaction.
‘Mum doesn’t seem to be too happy with the new clothes. Apparently they are too short and/or revealing.’
I sent the message and decided I could probably do one of the demos now; saves me from doing them later. I got off the bed and put the CD into the stereo disk drive. It hummed as it loaded before it played a little bit too loud for my current liking. I turned it down right as I heard my phone bleep from my bed.
‘That’s too bad because I love them :P Have you thought about what I offered earlier?’
As I read the message, I paused the disk so I could listen properly without distractions after. I kind of knew that our conversation was going to get to the offer, but I didn’t even know if he was serious about it. I mean, who would offer something like that? I opened up a new message and typed in my reply.
‘To be honest, I didn’t even know if you were serious… why did you offer that?’
I decided to go with the truth and the question that was flooding my head. Playing the demo, I took out a pen and the criteria sheet and began writing down all my thoughts. This demo wasn’t the best, but I wasn’t sure if that was because of me being distracted somewhat. When the singing started up though, I knew it wasn’t me. I quickly skipped the song, frowning at the terribleness and played the next track. It definitely wasn’t as bad, but it still wasn’t ‘crash hot’. I was about half way through when my phone bleeped again. Pausing the song, I picked up my phone to read what Lou sent.
