“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier Lexi. I only just found out.” My mum whimpered, still hunched over the toilet bowl. I nodded. I understood why she wouldn’t tell me that she had suspicions; it would just get my hopes of having a sibling up. As my mum’s body shook and she whimpered, she hunched forward again. I quickly grabbed her hair and held it back as she threw up into the toilet. “I’m sorry you have to see this Lex.” She whispered. I shook my head and started rubbing her back comfortingly.

“It’s fine Mum.” I said softly. She’s pregnant? I’m going to have a sibling. My mum sat up in front of me and took the test from the bench top.

“I can’t believe this is happening. Seventeen years…” My mum whispered in amazement. I was confused. Yeah, I was seventeen; what of it? My mum looked up at my face with a wide smile. She must have noticed my expression because she explained. “I haven’t been able to get pregnant after you. You were a miracle baby. Now, I’m having another one!” She said and I smiled. I knew she had had complications with me, but I didn’t know she had been trying to have another kid.

“Congratulations mum!” I told her and smiled. She stood up and wrapped her arms around my neck in a firm hug. I heard her sniffling and I knew this was an emotional time for her. “Are you going to go see a doctor for a check-up soon?” I asked her and she nodded.

“I’m going to call when they open and see if I can go tonight. Would you be able to come with me?” She asked, her hope-filled eyes staring into my own. I nodded.

“I’m going to Louis’ hotel tonight after dinner, so try and get an appointment straight after school!” I told her and she smiled.

“You’re quite fond of that Louis boy, aren’t you?” She asked me and I nodded. I guess I was. I wouldn’t go that far as to say I loved him, but I did have a little crush. Oh god, I was thinking like the girls from school.  “You better get ready though; don’t you have to catch a bus to school today?” She asked with a smile. I shook my head.

“Nah, Lou is taking me to school. He’s coming at about 8:30am to get me.” I told my mum who winked. It was surprising how understanding she was. Usually parents gave you that whole speech on only getting intimate with the person you love or have feelings for. My mum was a very reasonable and understanding person though.

“Ok, well I’m going to call the doctor’s office at about 10am and I’ll let you know the time of the appointment. Should I pick you up from school or has your boyfriend already claimed the honour?” She asked and I gave her a playful nudge.

“He isn’t my boyfriend…” I said, realising I was blushing and giving myself away that I had small feelings for the twenty-one year old man. “But no, he’s not picking me up from school today.” I said and my mum giggled.

“Someone has a crush!” She teased and I groaned. “I’ll text you the time and I might even come and pick you up early if need be.” She told me and I nodded and exited the small bathroom after my mother.

Getting ready for school, I made sure I had everything and I was ready before Louis came. When I heard a knock at the door, I collected my bag and my belongings and walked to the front door. I opened it to be faced with Lou. He was wearing a white and blue stripy t-shirt and red jeans and I admired his style. I know he probably get told how to dress by his management, but that didn’t mean I didn’t like it.

“Ready?” He asked and I nodded, shoving my phone down my bra. What? The uniform’s pockets made me look lumpy… “That was unbelievably hot.” Lou said under his breath, but I heard it. I giggled (seriously… I giggled. What has this world come to?), and followed Lou to his car. He had the familiar black Porsche that I loved. I didn’t know a lot about cars, but I did know this was classy as fuck.
