"Lauren?"
"Camila?" Lauren asks looking up from her phone and at the thin figure in front of her.
"Hey! I thought it was you! What are you doing here?" Camila asks taking a seat next to Lauren on the park bench.
"Just taking my mind off things I suppose." Lauren says with a sigh.
"What's wrong? You can tell me" Camila says rubbing Lauren's back.
"Its just, ugh, my mom doesn't really accept my sexuality. She hasn't said anything to me personally, but I hear her talking to my dad about how 'I'm gonna change my mind when I meet a boy I really like' and she just doesn't wanna understand that I like girls. Plus, later today we have some family coming over that we haven't seen in a while and she told me to not mention anything about my sexuality and if they say anything about a boyfriend to just go with it and pretend as if I have one. I don't like not being honest." Lauren says rubbing the temples of her head with her fingers.
"Hey, It's ok, your mom will accept you eventually don't worry. If you don't feel comfortable lying to your family, then just be honest, they'll know eventually right? It's better now than later" Camila says with a small smile.
"What about you? What are you?" Lauren asks, turning her body to face Camila.
"Uh, What am I? A female? What do you mean Lauren?" Camila asks, chuckling at Lauren's question.
"I mean like um, are you gay? or straight?" Lauren asks shyly.
"I've never really thought about it. I don't think i've ever had real romantic feelings for someone, i've thought people are cute obviously, boys and girls, but I don't know what that makes me. So I guess i'm human, I don't really like putting labels on things it is what it is, so I identify as a human being." Camila looks at Lauren and smiles.
"Damn, that's some deep shit right there Camz" Lauren says giving Camila a small grin.
"Camz?" Camila repeats, confused at the new nickname.
"Yeah, it just kind of came out, but I like it, do you not want me to call you that?"
"No,it's fine, I like it. No one has ever called me that before, the other girls usually call me Mila. I like Camz, it's um I don't know... special"
"That's cause you're a special person Camz."
Camila doesn't know what to say, so she decides it's best not to say anything. Just when she was about to speak up she hears Lauren's phone ring.
"Sorry that was my mom, I should get going, but i'll text you and let you know how everything goes alright?" Lauren says getting up from the bench.
"Yeah, that's fine. Goodluck Laur." Camila smiles at her.
Lauren waves goodbye as she walks away and gives her a small grin.

Lauren was dreading going downstairs. She wanted to be honest with her family, but she also didn't want to make her mother upset. She decided to just go along with what her mother told her to do. Lauren finished getting ready and went downstairs to greet her family. The moment she came downstairs she was getting hugs left and right and was showered with kisses on her cheeks and heard "Oh my gosh, look at you, so beautiful and big" probably a million times. Lauren and her siblings went out to the backyard with their cousins while they waited for the food to be ready.
The time came to eat dinner and Lauren and her family all sat down at the big table and began to eat.
"So Lauren," Lauren aunt asks, "Any guys at school that you're interested in?" Her aunt winks.
