Birds, that was what woke him it was early far too early to be awake, rubbing his tired eyes with a yawn he began to look around only to find he was not in his bedroom... In fact he wasn't even in his house let alone his country. Confusion brought him to a bundle next to him looking carefully he saw long blonde hair that almost shone like it wasn't lying in a patch of mud, pale face with pointed ears and a distinct brown and green tunic under what appeared to be a blanket. For Aragorn knew who his companion was and it would be odd not to see them together what would be odd though is the human was awake first and didn't appear to have a blanket in sight. Aragorn rubbed his forehead trying to remember what happened and why all of a sudden was Legolas sleeping with a blanket.. His blanket to be precise.
It took Aragorn a moment before he registered there was something on his forehead pulling his hand away he noticed blood dripping from a cut coming from his hairline. "What have we got ourselves into this time?" He asked himself quietly reaching down and ripping a strand of his cloak and wrapping it around his bleeding head. Turning his attention to his companion he wondered why his friend was sleeping so long before he realised his friend might be hurt bad "Legolas Mellon nin? Can you hear me" Aragorn was tugging on his friends shoulder lightly at first but when his friend did not even stir his action became harder "ow what do you want you filthy human" now Aragorn was content he stared into the dark blue confused eyes of his best friend not missing when Legolas pulled the blanket tighter around himself "it's time to get up Leggy" the atmosphere around them was different worth a heavy sigh Legolas sat up to Aragorns horror Legolas looked bad his hair was dishevelled and so not normal for an elf his eyes where unfocused and his clothes were creased, Legolas simply stared back at his friend a smile tugged at his lips as he grabbed his trusty hair brush and began to deknot his hair.
All was quiet Aragorn was staring at Legolas trying to determine whether his friend really was hurt or whether he was just being paranoid, the elf sensing his friends eyes on him carried on until a bout of pain hit him, it was true Legolas didn't know exactly what happened either just that everything ached and pain was his friend at this moment although he was never going to let Aragorn know of course. Aragorn knew something was wrong the way Legolas eyes screamed pain was a sure sign his elven friend was not going to let up on what was wrong so Aragorn pretended to ignore it much to the elves relief. It did take them 2 hours to remember where they were though which included an argument about who was supposed to navigating the trip all blame fell strangely on the elf much to his dismay.
4 hours passed when they'd crossed the border to Rivendell Aragorn had watched Legolas the whole time and did not let anything slip his attention even now as Legolas was not exactly walking in a straight line more like a wonky line that couldn't decide which direction to go in, however Legolas was not stupid either he was checking his friends situation out too we is human after all, Aragorn only had a cut on his hairline but he knew that his best friend was just as stubborn as he was if not more. For now they just had to keep going and see who collapsed first.
Elrohir and Elladan were out in the gardens when they saw their foster brother and Legolas approach the gates although neither of them looked in good shape "Estel" they shouted in glee causing their father Elrond to look out the window as far as he was concerned Aragorn and Legolas were on their way to Mirkwood to stay with King Thranduil for the summer, worry mounted in his heart why had they come back there is no need. Hurrying out the door Elrond met up with his twin sons ready to join the welcome party.
Upon hearing his name Aragorn looked towards his brothers and his father who all looked confused Elrond came to stand next to them looking worried, Aragorn couldn't understand why to he looks of things they didn't look hurt or injured much. Elrond started laughing "oh my sons you have returned with but only scratches this will mark a day in history" Elrond carried on laughing "I must ask though why did you return you were heading to Mirkwood is all well?" Aragorn looked at his father "why were we going to Mirkwood, when did we set out" worry set back into Elronds eyes as he took his two adopted sons by the arms stopping when Legolas didn't say anything "Legolas are you well?" Elrond was fully prepared for his first response maybe not his second "I am well.. Where are we?" Stopping short the twins looked at their father, then at Aragorn, then to Legolas then back to their father again. "Come you both need rest" almost as if on queue Legolas paled tilting forward slightly limply falling into Elronds arms scooping him up Elrond and his sons made their way to the healing ward where they lay Legolas down.
Looking over the elf you would've thought he would be in he most perfect health except for he fact he didn't know where he was, who everyone else was and who he was he only remembered one name Estel. Elrond was getting frustrated until Legolas winced "what is it? What ails you?" Legolas was pained "my head hurts" Elrond carefully rolled Legolas over to see a big lump on the back of Legolas head carefully poking it Elrond knew what ailed the young elf "I'm afraid you have concussion Legolas Greenleaf and may I just congratulate you on the severity of this concussion I have the pleasure in informing you that you will be staying here tucked in bed for at least another week" Elrond smiled a groan made its appearance from the elf in question followed by a smile from his human son "I don't know why you're laughing Aragorn son of Ararthon you will be joining him with your concussion just not for as long" a smile played itself out of Elronds face as he took in the matching glares from Aragorn and Legolas.. "Rest now" with that he walked out the door towards his study ready to inform King Thranduil of why his son and Elronds own son would not be joining him for the summer a task he had hated doing every time they got together something bad happened. Oh well tomorrow is a new day Elrond thought as he looked out the window in the direction of Mirkwood.
