"Luke!" I complained.
"What?" he replied, sounding tired and grumpy.
"We leave tomorrow and you haven't packed anything!" I groaned.
"If it makes you happy I'll come and do it now." He smiled and grabbed his suitcase.
"Thank you, Lukey." I said, whilst folding and packing my dress for the dinner. Both Luke and I had received invites to the reunion and we were both excited to be returning to the place we spent 6 years of our lives. Since my parents had split up, I had stayed with my dad in Sydney until we finished school. Once it had, we moved closer to my mum, Brighton being the closest we could manage. Since school, I hadn't kept in touch with anyone apart from Lottie Jones, my best friend. We hadn't seen each other for 2 years, and I was excited to see her again. When we made it to the airport, it was packed and it was really difficult making our way around.
Once we had found the security gate, we started gathering our valuables.
I was putting my jewellery on the tray when a woman, who looked to be around my age gasped.
"My goodness, that ring is beautiful. Where's it from?" She asked, admiring the piece of jewellery. Luke had proposed a couple of weeks ago when we were away on a short holiday that I had surprised him with for his birthday.
"My fiancé, Luke, gave me it a couple of weeks ago." I gestured over to Luke, who then came over and hugged me from behind. I laughed and pecked his cheek.
"You two are so cute, I wish my boyfriend would hurry up and propose. I mean, we've been together for god knows how long and-" She stopped and looked to her side. The man, who was giving her a stern look, then ushered us along towards the metal detector thing. I walked through first, the light pinging green once I had. Luke however, wasn't so lucky. His light went red, so a couple of security guards ran over and started patting him down. I took this as an opportunity to take a photo, so I grabbed my phone from the tray and snapped a quick picture."Babe, where's the gate?" Luke was dragging around all of our carry on luggage whilst I tried to find the plane.
"I'm not sure baby, that's why I'm trying to find it!" I complained. We were boarding at gate 19, which we couldn't seem to find. We'd been walking in circles for a good hour.
I stopped outside a McDonalds and let Luke go inside and grab something to eat. I managed to catch sight of the gate, so I
grabbed the bags and called for Luke. From what I knew, Lottie was flying from Scotland. I didn't know of anyone else flying from up north, Luke might've but I didn't know. I had texted her asking the time of her flight, and she was gonna arrive around 3 hours before we were.
Luke and I had moved over to the seats by the gate, and we were surrounded by little kids and flustered parents.
"Have you talked to anyone since we left Luke?" I asked. He knew about me keeping in touch with Lottie, so I wanted to know if he had done the same with anyone else.
"Well, I kept in touch with Calum and Michael for about a month after we left, but I suppose we all just got busier and I have no idea where they are now. I kinda remember Calum saying he wanted to move closer to his uncle, but I'm not sure" He explained, whilst rubbing circles on my hand with his thumb. I gave him a weak smile and rested my head in his shoulder. We sat like that for another hour, watching as little kids ran by. I smiled at the thought of having my own little Luke's and Alyssa's running around.
"Baby, have you ever thought about kids?" Luke wondered out loud.
"I guess I have yeah. What about you?" I asked.
"I have thought about it occasionally. I'm dead set on having a boy and a girl though." He said, grinning.
"Yeah, a boy and a girl would be nice." I smiled.
"But I'm not sure when, you know, and whether we'd both want them at the time." I said, frowning slightly. Luke then turned to face me and grabbed both of my hands.
"Ally, you need to know that whatever happens, I'll always be ready to do anything with you. To travel, to have kids, to get married and whatever else you wanna do. I am always gonna be here, no matter what." He finished with a small smile. I grinned and pulled him into a hug.
"I love you" I whispered.
"I love you more" He whispered into my hair.
We were happily sitting together until the loud intercom speaker rang throughout the waiting space."Attention all passengers, Flight 19 to Sydney is now boarding."
We stood up and made our way towards the plane.
