Well That's Great

3 days later...

After escaping the Preeminence, we've been hiding out in Vanessa's "workshed". I still haven't told anyone about my memories yet. I don't know how they will react, especially Rex. I have mixed feelings about him.

One part of me wants to give him a chance, but the other says to keep my mouth shut about it. He did just stab me in the back the other day. Literally. But he also healed my back and showed me a power that he hasn't shown anyone before.

'Ugh! This is so frustrating,' I toss and turn in my makeshift bed. 'I'll tell him tomorrow, but no one else will know,' I decide.

'Will know what?' Vanessa asks.

'Why do you keep doing this? At least give me some warning next time, it freaks me out,' I say mentally.

Vanessa has been annoying me all day with her mind speaking. She just found out how to do it, but it only works on me, not the others. So I'm stuck with her listening in on my thoughts. Best day ever.

Morning finally comes and we get out of "bed" to eat breakfast.

"How's the ship coming along, Eli?" Rex asks after we finish eating.

"Almost done with the repairs, actually. It should be up and running by tomorrow," he says.

"Does that mean you guys are leaving?" Vanessa asks.

"I guess so. We still need the other stones to stop the Preeminence, so we probably should go look for them," Tyler answers.

"Wait a second. Why do we need to look for the other stones when we could just take the ones she has? That way she won't be able to get all of them in the same place at the same time," I suggest.

It's quiet for a few moments as everyone lets that thought roll around   in their minds.

"But what if we change the present when we do this? For all we know, we could end up not existing at all," Eli reasons.

"What if we still exist, but are lives change and we never meet?" Rex asks.

I roll my eyes. "You guys are thinking of the worst case scenarios," I say and everyone looks at me. "I mean, what if we are supposed to do this to continue the timeline and our future selves do this, too?"

"That seems like sound logic," Vanessa answers and the group engages in a battle of the scenarios.

I take my chance to get Rex away from the rest of the group so I can tell him what I wanted to say. 'Ha! Vanessa can't read what I don't say!' I think triumphantly.

"Rex," I say, "come over here for a sec."

"Okay," he starts to walk over to me and I get the teleporter ready to go to my secret place.

When he reacts me, I grab his arm and press the teleport button before he can say a word.

"What was that for?!" Rex exclaims after the teleport. He looks around and takes in the surroundings.

I teleported us to my secret place: a little garden with purple trees and crystal clear water. There were short leafy plants and tall dry ones plus a short waterfall that flowed into the stream.

"Yeah...so yesterday I went out to see what the festival was about and stumbled on this place. You're the only one I've showed it to," I explain.

"So, if I'm hearing correctly, I'm your sole confidant," he does a superhero pose.

"You're words, not mine. But I brought you here because I need to tell you something. Something important," I state.
