Hi guys! Welcome to book 2 of Kingdoms of the Galaxy (KotG). If you're new here, you might want to read the first book before you start this one. Book 1 is KotG: The Elemental Stones, so go on, read it. I'll wait. You done? Great, let's get started then... P.S. be prepared for the fourth wall to be broken (it won't happen a lot) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"But what will happen if we change the past? For all we know, we could end up not existing in the present, or something worse," I reason.

"Well, I guess we'll just have to find out as we do it. Setting course for the Fire Stone," he types in the coordinates and we are out of the vortex, speeding towards the next stone.

Okay, let me fill you in. I'm Valerie and that's Rex. He's super obnoxious and flirty, but, aside from that, he's an okay guy, I guess. We drifted into a time vortex and got sent back in time 1000 years. When we woke up, I discovered a new power. I could take whatever I was touching back in time with me, even people. Rex was kinda mad though, he didn't get a new power and got all pouty about it. Everyone else is still out cold on the floor: the twins, Tyler and Taylor, Eli, and Ashton. I'm surprised they haven't woken up yet, Rex and I woke up almost an hour ago.
(fourth wall has been fixed)

"So, Valerie, what was that back there?" Rex asks.

"What was what?" I reply, focused on the main computer.

"Earlier, when you held my hand. You finally accepting our relationship?" he said, smirking and wiggling his eyebrows at me.

"What relationship, Rex? Do you have an imaginary girlfriend that I don't know about?" I question.

"Only you, princess," he says.

Okay. That's just too much. Three nicknames?! First it was sweetheart, then milady, and now princess? Will it ever end?

"Really, Rex? Another nickname? Haven't you given me enough of them?" I ask, slightly annoyed.

"I'm gonna give you all the nicknames I want," he taps his chin, "sweetie."

I just ignore Rex and continue to stare at the navigation map. Apparently the next stone, if the Preeminence hasn't gotten it yet, is on the planet Cairo. A planet known for its freezing temperatures. I guess that would be the perfect place a fire stone.

"So what do you think we should do while we're waiting to get there?" Rex asks.

"No idea. You know any games?" I ask.

"Nope. I guess we could play some music. Wait...we can't use the computer for music can we?" he asks.

"I don't think so," I say, and we lapse into an awkward silence.

"Valerie. Valerie? Wake up. WAKE UP!!" someone screams in my ear.

"Alright, who's the one who woke me up!?" I exclaim, ready to punch the daylights out of them.

"Relax, Val. We're at Cairo already. We just need to find a way to blend in with the crowd," Taylor, says backing away from me.

I look down and remember I'm still wearing my clothes from the academy. Then I remember what I brought with me on the ship.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" Eli asks. Apparently everyone woke up while I was asleep.

"I just remembered something. I didn't think I'd actually need it, but I always come prepared," I say, digging out some old fashioned clothes from my duffel. I pull out a silver dress with a black corset and black arm guards that look like arm warmers, but are actually hidden dagger sheaths, and some black leggings. "The perfect old-timey fashion," I say after I change.

"Did anyone else bring anything to wear in 1016? 'Cause I know I didn't," Eli says.

Everyone shakes their head except for Rex. Of course, it just had to be Rex didn't it? This is what I get for being prepared.

"Cool! So, I'm guessing this is going to be a duo mission. Just the two of us. Rex and Valerie, Valerie and Rex," I tune out of that conversation and roll my eyes. Again, this is too much, even for Rex.

"I'll be right back," Rex leaves the room and comes back a minute later, wearing a white shirt with a blue vest, grey pants with a harness belt and pockets, and gloves.

"Who knew you could dress up so nicely, Rex?" I say, surprised.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me, princess," he winks.

"You guys should be able to blend in with that on. So, here's the map. I downloaded it onto the tablet for you to take into town, just don't let anyone see it. There isn't any technology in this time period," Eli says, handing the tablet to Rex.

"Okay then. I guess we'll...be going now," I say and walk towards the exit.

"Wait up! I'm tying my boots here!" Rex complains from the room I just left and runs to catch up.

I guess we'll have to see what the universe is like a thousand years in the past.
