Her Secret Place and Friends in Trouble

Valerie's POV
I fix Vanessa's teleporter and, a few seconds later, we are teleported near the area where I was snatched from outside the alley.

"What is this place?" Vanessa asks.

"Wait, so you've never been here?" I question.

"Yeah...my mom doesn't let me out much, so I don't know very much or have many friends. None, actually," she sighs, "So where are we, then?"

On that sad note, I say, "We're by the place I was grabbed earlier. Oh man, Rex is probably looking for me right now!" I start to run in the direction of the ship.

"Who's Rex?!" Vanessa yells after me.

"He was with me when I got grabbed," I say.

"So, he's you're boyfriend, pretty much," she states.

"No! He wishes that I was his girlfriend, but I don't really have time for that, considering I have to save my family and possibly stop a war," I explain while running between the various booths on the street.

We finally reach the spot where the ship was, but it's gone. There aren't any traces of it anywhere and it can't be cloaked because there is usually a faint glimmer when it is.

"How can you run and not be this tired. I mean, seriously! You're not even out of breath," Vanessa exclaims.

"Let's just say I do a lot of training in the running department," I reply, looking for a secluded place to put on my spacesuit and activate the com link to see if I can reach the others.

"I know the perfect place!" Vanessa grabs my arm and pulls me under a huge tent.

We sneak around the booths and under tables so that no one sees us and she leads us towards the mansion.

"Um...shouldn't we be going in the opposite direction of your mom's evil mansion?" I whisper.

"Trust me. No one will find us there," she assures me.

We walk slowly through a gate near the back of the yard and make our way towards a shed in the yard.

"I'm not sure about this, Vanessa," I say, unsure.

"It's fine," she opens the door, "this is my secret place. I do everything in here and my mom never comes over here, anyways."

We walk down a set of stairs that were under a storage box and emerge in a giant room with a desk that is covered in metal parts.

"Welcome to my secret place! I always come here when I need privacy or when I want to work on my inventions. I also come here to practice my powers," she says.

"How did you know I wanted to find a place like this? I didn't say it out loud, right?" I ask.

"No, but it felt like it. I don't know how I did," she answers.

'Maybe she has more than one power, like me,' I think as I walk through the room, looking at all of the things she has laying on the huge desk.

"What are these?" I point to a couple of triangle shaped devices.

"Oh, those? They're just some communicators that I have nothing to do with," she says, walking towards the back of the "shed".
