When I woke up, it was 9:30. It was a Saturday morning. I groaned because the sun was glaring in my eyes. I had slept the entire afternoon until now by some strange “miracle.” I hadn‟t even changed out of my clothes from yesterday, and I reeked of sweat.

I only vaguely remembered yesterday afternoon, mostly that it had been tiring. I sat up in bed and looked at my phone; I had 3 new inbox messages (which meant three different people…probably more messages themselves). I groaned again, remembering yesterday afternoon in full detail very abruptly. I’ll look at them later. I need to shower first. I agreed with myself for once this time.

I rolled off of my bed and stood up, grumbling a bit as I walked over to my little walk-in closet and opened it, mulling over what I would wear today. I dug around in the closet and found a cute grey top with a green dinosaur on it saying “RAWR,” deciding on that. I grabbed my tennis shoes from the bottom and tossed them by my bed. I proceeded to look through my drawers, finally happening upon a pair of my skinny capris. I grabbed them, a fresh bra, and fresh panties and bounded to the bathroom.

I kind of didn‟t want to look myself in the mirror, but out of terrible habit I glanced at myself in the mirror and was horrified at what I saw. My hair was a bit stringy from having the sweat dry in it; my makeup was smeared. I looked exhausted. I didn‟t look like me at all this morning, and it was all Ray‟s fault.

After moving away from the mirror and setting my clothes on the counter, I stripped down and pulled a towel from the cabinet. I put it on the towel rack by the shower and slid open the glass door just enough to reach my hand in to turn on the water and feel it warm up. Once it finally hit my favorite temperature, I opened the door more and stepped inside, stepping under the hot spray of water. I let it wash over me, relaxing me and making me less tense, if even for just a little while. It was quiet.

The soap felt nice on my skin, like I could literally wash away the memory of what Ray had tried to do. But I couldn‟t. I could only wash away the rank odor of sweat and the darker side of the forest‟s smell. I tried to force the thoughts out of my mind, preferring not to think about what Ray had done. There was a certain solace in not remembering, but I also knew I couldn‟t just pretend like it didn‟t happen.

I washed my hair quickly enough and just stood underneath the water, soaking it in until it started cooling off.

Turning off the shower, I stepped out; steam covered the mirror, but I didn‟t mind. I grabbed my towel and dried off, wrapping it around myself before I started to blow dry and brush my blonde hair, getting it dry before I straightened it. The mirror had defogged by the time I finished.

I put on my clothes and tossed my towel into the hamper before heading to my room. I stood in front of my mirror and put on light shimmery green eye shadow with and a very light layer of eyeliner with my mascara. I put on my lip gloss before tossing everything back into my makeup bag.

Sitting down on my bed, I put on my tennis shoes after grabbing a pair of socks. I heard birds chirping softly outside of my window, but I wasn‟t feeling up to looking out of it to see which tree branch they were perched on. Birds didn‟t seem interesting to me this morning like they usually were.

I grabbed my phone and opened the messages; Ray, Terra, and Naomi texted me at different times yesterday afternoon.

I opened the douche‟s texts first.

nobody says no to me val. u wont like what happens on monday. ull see

ray, do me a favor. find another slut and get over it

I sighed, closing his and opening Naomi‟s text messages next.

Hey, Ray just messaged me. Call me as soon as you can, okay?
