I know there is no hope hiding in this cruel world.
I see nothing but pain and misery waiting to unfurl.
Yet never do you ever stop pushing yourself to keep on trying.
I don't understand; please tell me how you're able to keep on smiling.
After all the pain I've burdened you with and all the screams you've had to hear,
It makes me want to cry; it makes me want to disappear.
No longer can I stand it; I wish you'd just give in.
I don't see how you could forgive me nor do I see a way to atone for all my sins.
It breaks my heart how hard you try to cheer me up and how much you want me to smile,
But even with your selflessness, all the effort wouldn't be worth while.
I apologize, but I've slipped too far for you to bring me back now.
I've lost myself to the dark; I hope you could forgive me somehow.
