So many times have I been left behind by those who once cared.
I'm left alone in the darkness to contemplate the joyous memories that we once shared.
Now they're just painful thoughts that remind me that you're gone,
Just white recollections of the one I used to lean on.
If only I could hold you tight, simply sing you to sleep just one more time.
Maybe then I'd be able to move on from this miserable timeline.
That fire that once burned behind your eyes was burning low until it was slowly distinguished.
At that point in time you could no longer hold on to one simple wish.
My scars have long faded, but the stinging tears are still there.
The pale face I had gazed upon made my own flame burn low as I lost my faith in prayer.
I know that someday I'll fail and lose this fight as well,
But at least I didn't go first, leaving you to hopelessly dwell.
