Cathy's P.O.V

For the next few days I watched the weather with sharp eyes. I was right, there had been large grey clouds and booming thunder that shook buildings every day but no bright flashes of lightning.

Another days had passed of Mrs Dodds' eyes burning holes in the back of mine and Ellie's heads. Another of Percy's stupid jokes at the lunch table. All in all it had been a long day and I was ready to curl up in my door room and watch a movie (no books were allowed).

The four of us sat in the middle of Mr Bruner's classroom trying, and failing I might add, to figure out the strange and nonsensical language that was Latin.

The classroom was completely silent, save for the scratching sounds of pen on paper. The peaceful silence was interrupted by a loud crash as more thunder rumbled making me jump in my seat. "there has been an awful lot of thunder lately but no lightning. Strange." My head snapped up and I caught Mr Bruner looking directly at where Ellie and I were sitting. She, like me, had also stiffened at the mention of Zeus' little temper tantrum.

He watched our reactions closely and what he saw seemed to confirm whatever theory he had.

I cursed and kept my head down for the rest of the class, praying that Ellie was smart and did the same. Mr Bruner kept making sly comment about the gods and strange weather patterns.

From the corner of my eye I could see Grover casting panicked looks towards Mr Bruner and then to Percy, who was completely oblivious about the tension in the classroom.

Finally after half an hour of Mr Bruner's voice grating on my nerves there was the sound of the bell signalling that classes were over for the weekend. As our class packed up Mr Bruner's voice called out over the din of the students chatting. "can the two Miss Meadows' please see me after class?" the was he phrased it made it sound more like a command than a question.

Giving Ellie a significant look we both walked to the front of the classroom and sat in the front row seats that almost touched his desk.

"How did you know the lightning bolt was missing?" There was a hard edge to his voice that he never used in class with us.

"The lightning bolt? As in the mythical weapon?" I tried to sound confused but I don't think he believed me.

"Mythical?" he scoffed "you know as well as I do that it is anything but mythical."

"Sir?" I looked over to Ellie and she was giving him a concerned look as if he were sick. She almost pulled it off, but he didn't buy it.

"Will you read this for me?" he handed me an old worn book with strange letterings on the front.

I was about to read it out when Ellie touched me on the arm and pointed at the cover. It was in Greek. "I don't speak Ancient Greek sir?"

I knew my mistake as soon as I had said it. "and how Miss Meadows did you know that it was Ancient Greek?" he bridges his fingers on the desk with a slight smile on his face. "tell me who you are?"

Ellie's shoulders sagged in defeat and she opened her mouth, just as she was going to tell him everything I had a brain wave.

Well I thought, it worked in the books and we are part of them now, why not. I tried to focus on how I wanted this conversation to go. Snapping my fingers a slight wind blew threw the room as I said "you don't suspect anything about us, you never herd us talking in our dorm and you called us in here to discus grades."

"Alright girls keep up the good work." His voice was off b but it was the dismissal that i had wanted. I left the office at a sprint.

Only when I had reached the dorm did I stop, after locking the door I turned to a slightly out of breath Ellie, "what did you do?" Her brown hair was all over the place looking like a tumbleweed but I was sure that I looked the same.

"I trie to manipulate the mist like Thalia did and it worked but." I continued on before Ellie could interrupt me. "this is Chiron so it won't last. I think it only worked because-"

"he was caught off guard." Ellie finished. "Makes sense but your going to have to teach me how to do it. It sound cool."

I almost laughed, of the two of us Ellie was lighthearted and always looking on the bright side. It never failed to amaze me how nice she always was.

"I will but first we have to add Mr Bruner to the list of teachers who suspect that we are strange."
