Ashley's POV

The rest of the school day went by slowly....  Shawn was pretty much at my heels the entire time, hanging on my every word. It was almost like he was trying to absorb what I was saying. It was new to me, that's for sure...Shawn was quirky and friendly(from what I could tell), but he was also really tall, and muscular. For instance, when he raised his arms in class to answer a question or stretch, his shirt  scrunched up and showed a part of his abdomen. He had a full six-pack from what I could see.

He was also super funny, he even made me laugh once or twice..which is really hard to do... When I laughed, it was foreign to me. I haven't even really smiled(a real smile) since I was 10, I had just turned sixteen this year. Most of the time I faked my emotions, but when I was around Shawn I didn't really have to-"I was suddenly shaken from my thoughts by a voice that was sitting next to me currently.

"Hey, Ashley? Are you awake?"

It was Shawn. We were currently in our 4th period, it was about 10 minutes to lunch and I was so tired, I hadn't even noticed that I had closed my eyes. "Oh, yea, I'm awake, I just resting my eyes for a bit." I replied and  started working on our assignment. We were currently working on an art assignment, we both had visual arts for 4th period. We basically had the exact same schedule. The only thing we did not have together was 6th period. He had chorus and I had orchestra. I never really pictured him as a singer. I would have liked to join chorus but I don't really like to sing in front of other people. Another horrible side affect of social anxiety....

I joined the orchestra because I have always loved the Cello which is what I play currently. I use a school cello to play since my dad won't buy me one. Then again, I buy my stuff that I can afford with my paycheck. I work at the drug store in the evenings on week days for about 2 hours. My boss is like my older sister, she looks out for me and  we get along really well.

Back to reality... The teacher was explaining our assignment was to do a research paper on a famous artist. To be honest, for a visual arts class, it wasn't very creative but oh well.

"- this project will be due on Thursday of next week so that schools give all of you about  ten days to get this done and turned in. And last but not least, this is a group assignment, so each of you need to choose a partner for this assignment." She explained.

Partner? No one ever chooses me, I usually end up working alone. I get it done and turned in with no issues. However, after she said partners, the room was Ina buzz looking around for someone they could work with. I suddenly saw someone walk up to our table. However, it wasn't just anyone. This was the most popular girl in school, Jessica Robins. Aka. Bitch queen of CDHS. She was model material, with her emerald green eyes, and her auburn red hair. She was pretty much the prettiest girl in school, and she knew it too. She has these two other sidekicks that followed her like lost ducks, Ava Dallas, and Vivian Haze. Ava was literally as dense as a tree, she was a cute blondie with Caribbean   blue eyes, Vivian however, was like the second pair of brains. She wasn't like Jessica but where Jessica falters, Vivian picks it back up to speed.

"Hey, your that new kid I've heard so much about, aren't you?" She said in a not-so-innocently-innocent voice, "Shawn, right?"

He was about to speak before she cut him off, "If you don't have a partner already, I would love to do this assignment with you, she said as sweetly as giant gummy snake. Don't fall for it Shawn, she may seem like an angel now, but in reality she is the mere image of Satan...

I looked out of the corner of my eye to see, Jessica lay her hand on his shoulder flirtatiously. He looked at it for a second before letting his eyes land on me. What is he thinking right now, I wonder, Jessica may have seen what he did because she quickly flashed a glare my way before going back to her angelic mask that she has on for him. That is the when, I saw him do something unimaginable. He plucked her hand off his shoulder and smiled at her before saying politely, "Thank you for the offer but I already have a partner to work with."

She looked  as shocked for a second before she covered it up with one of her million dollar smiles. "Well, if you decide to change your mind," she said whilst writing her phone number down on his notes paper, "just call me."

I just sat there shocked while she walked away, and before she sat down, she sent me a death glare. Great, one more thing to worry about.

"Why?" I asked Shawn.

"Why what?"

"Why did you you do that?" I yelled/whispered.

"Do what?" He said even  more confused than before.

"You turned down Jessica! Now she has it out for me!" I explained.

"Why would she 'have it out' for you?"

I looked at him with a dumbfounded expression, "Are you serious right now?" No answer.

"She likes you! And since you turned her down to be partners with me, she hates me! And that is not good on my end..."I explained.

"Look, you don't have to be partners with me... I just wanted to hang out with you I guess, but if you don't want to then that's fine..."he said, looking kinda sad.

I sighed, "No Shawn, it's too late to back out of it now...And  I am sorry if I came off as rude I guess, I don't mind being partners with you, I just didn't want to have to deal with her on top off all the other shit I am dealing with right now..."I may have said a little too much.

He looked at me curiously but didn't say anything.

"So my house or yours?" He asked.

Oh, I hadn't really thought about that..."um... Your house most likely.."

"Okay then." He said and gave  me a small smile.

This should be interesting...
