Chapter 10

Hailey's P.O.V.

I suddenly jolted up at the sound of something rustling outside the window. After watching countless horror movies I knew not to go and try to investigate what was happening so I shook Ryan awake and told him.

"It's probably nothing Hales, I think you're just being paranoid because of what happened with your dad" Ryan said as he put his arm around me and pulled me closer. I hated whenever someone shortened my name but when Ryan says it I get butterflies in my stomach.

"You're right but it wouldn't hurt just to make sure right? I suggested.

"Okay whatever will make you feel safe" Ryan said kissing me deeply. The truth is that he was the only thing that made me feel safe. Ever since we first became friends I knew Ryan would never let anything bad happen to me and I was so grateful to have such a person in my life. I just hope he feels the same way about me.

There were two windows in this room and Ryan went to check the one closest to the door. He opened it up and he peered outside making sure there was nothing around and then he closed it and locked it. Then he went to the second window and he did the same thing before locking it.

"See there's nothing." He smiled at me as he got back into bed and turned off the lamp that he had opened.

"Thank you...I know I'm a little pussy okay" I joked with him. I just expected him to laugh but he sat up and turned on the lamp again.

"Hailey" he whispered as he held my face between his hands. "You're the bravest and strongest person have I ever known in my entire life. You have been through so much yet you still have a huge heart. You care about other people more than you care about yourself and you do whatever you can to help out those in need. Don't put yourself down like that because you're absolutely amazing and I am the luckiest guy ever because I have you to call my own."

The tears that were welling up in my eyes started falling down my cheeks and I closed the gap between Ryan and I. Things were getting really intense when all of a sudden the closet door flies open.

"I'm sorry to ruin your moment but I'm here to collect what is rightfully mine." My step-dad demonically grinned as he made his way to us. However, this time he had something a lot worse than just a knife.

There you guys go a new chapter :) Things are about to get serious!! Sooooooooo up in the header is how I imagine Ryan looks like. The next chapter I will put up a picture of what I imagine Hailey to look like :) Oh and btw just ignore the casting for Ryan and Hailey. I'm still trying to figure out how to delete the cast xD
