***Aya***
We had been looking for Lyon for hours with no luck in finding him. Gray was starting to lose hope and Sherry was acting surprisingly dark. A little bit earlier a large blackish beam came up and towered over us, leaving us speechless and confused. But it just made us search harder, but there was no sign of him.
“Aya, thank you for your help, but I don’t think he’s still alive.” Just then a large group of vines came out of nowhere and grabbed Gray, constricting him. He yelled out and I realized that that was it. That was the time I could try to make up for everything. I used my water power to attack her tree doll, blasting it to pieces. I then used a light water spell to knock her out, leaving Gray go. Suddenly, the voice from before came back. Lyon. I gulped, waiting for a lecture that never came.
“You know, I’m a little upset you doubted me like that. Did you really think I would fall that easily?” Gray had finally smiled again, Sherry waking up at the sound of her “love’s” voice, realizing he was indeed alive, and started to sob in the name of love.
“She didn’t doubt you. She thought you were alive all along.” Lyon looked at me, a smile on his face, and just chuckled.
“Really? What are you doing here anyways? I thought you didn’t need us because you thought we only wanted you due to the fact we pitied you? So what is it?” I frowned and looked up at his pale face, shirt partially torn, showing his skin. Too much of it…I thought in my head, blushing a bit from his comment.
“Well…I feel like I owe you. And I know I don’t need you, but I couldn’t turn down a chance at a real family again. When he said you fell, I felt like I had to help, just because you helped me. I needed to make up what happened earlier. I couldn’t go on like that. Guilt was eating me up. I will accept your offer now, if it didn’t have an expiration date…” His eyes brightened and he hugged me, as if saying a friendly ‘You’re in’. I smiled, knowing that I was accepted someplace. He walked over to Sherry, the darkness leaving her, and picked her up, holding her safe in his arms. He tilted his head left showing where we were going and we followed, obeying every move he made. It was getting darker and darker, and with the dark came the cold. Due to the fact I was only wearing shorts and a tank top, I was freezing. I shivered and shook, teeth chattering, when Lyon finally turned around to tell us where we were stopping. One look at me and he stopped in his tracks, taking off his jacket and wrapping it around me, while Sherry was in a very angered Gray’s arms. Lyon grabbed Sherry and set her down on the ground and grabbed Gray’s arm, leading him behind a tree.
***Lyon***
“What were you doing? Why were you letting her freeze?” Gray’s face twisted into one of anger, thinking I was making false accusations. Aya was growing on me, no joke. She was so different…she didn’t want to be with us, she just felt like she had to, like she owed us. When in all reality, she didn’t owe us anything. That’s what I liked about her. How she didn’t want to ask for help.
“I let her freeze? I let her freeze!? I wasn’t even paying attention to her! How would I know!?” His angered whisper echoed throughout the trees. He wouldn’t get away with it.
“She could have died Gray. Believe it or not, she didn’t used to strip down and run in the freezing weather. She’s a water mage for crying out loud!” That did it. He pushed me down and started hitting me repeatedly for accusing him of such actions until Sherry ran over.
“Boys, if you could stop for a moment…Aya is struggling. She’s absolutely freezing and I don’t know what to—“ She was cut off by a sharp scream coming from the general direction of camp. We all turned, shocked and wondering who it could’ve been when I realized, that’s where Aya’s at now. I grabbed the two wizards and ran back to camp where I saw a sleeping, trembling Aya, freezing due to the fact my coat fell off her fragile body, and Gray just sighed.
“False alarm…” Sherry smacked him upside the head and started yelling at Gray saying it wasn’t a false alarm and who knows what she was dreaming about. I walked over to her and looked at her face, her cheeks red from tears and her hair laying all over the ground. I placed my coat over her again and made sure it wouldn’t come off that time, getting up and walking towards Gray and Sherry again, and when I looked back, Aya was smiling.
***Morning—Aya***
I woke up a lot warmer than before. I was wearing a coat…Lyon’s coat. I grinned and got up, the coat still wrapped around me, it being huge on my small body. Lyon, Gray, and Sherry were all standing and talking silently to each other, as if not to wake me.
“Hey guys! Oh…and Lyon, here’s your coat back!” I handed the jacket to him and he put it on. Sherry just smiled and waved to me, while Gray grinned a little. I blushed and Lyon furrowed his eyebrows a little at Gray…Why did he do that? Gray was his partner and all he did was smile at me!
“Okay, clearly, we’re not the greatest team. So I think we should get to know each other. We’ll ask each other a few questions and then we might become a better team!” Everyone approved, but I hesitantly sat down, hoping no questions would come up about my family. When we had all sat down, we started.
“Okay Aya, you first. What is your favorite color, food, what were you dreaming about last night, and what is your biggest fear?” Sherry asked her three questions and I just looked to the ground.
“Teal, don’t really have one, and can I skip this one?” Everyone continued to stare at me, as if they were telling me to continue. “Okay! I’ll answer it! I dreamt everyone left me alone…and that’s my biggest fear, too.” Everyone nodded their heads and continued asking and answering. Soon after, we got up and started walking, trying to make progress, trying to find the Oracion Seis. We came to a cliff, and I remembered what to do.
“Guys I’ll be right back! I can get a pretty good view from up here!” I walked up and saw the one person I never wanted to see again. It wasn’t Angel, or racer, or Brain…it was
Zero.
And the next thing I knew I was falling right to him.
