We hate mirrors.
We hate how that piece of glass easily shows our bodies and everything we think is wrong with it.
But let me tell you something, that piece of glass never shows the story. We look at our stomachs thinking that they're to big, too round, too chunky to love. But we forget that one day our lovers head will rest on our stomachs and they will never complain about the softness, and if they do, well, that says more about them than it does about us.
When we look in a mirror and we see our arms, our first thought is flabby, or awkward. But we don't get to see the way they protect and hold our babies, or the way they dance with your best friend at 2 am.
And our legs, oh God our legs are always touching. There is no gap and we have scars from lonely nights littered across our thighs, but the mirror will never see how they rested for 7 hours when you took a road trip and no matter how hard you look, you will never see the salt water from the ocean.
We grew up in a society that told us beauty is only seen as a reflection on a piece of glass, but our beauty is not determined by the standard we have set for ourself, beauty is found in our story.
- Ugly is a choice in a world full of beautiful.
