Brothers' Chitchat

JERON'S POV:

It has been days na din pala since Ahia brought Hailey home. Although I have Lei's number, I bother to contact her dahil baka busy sya at baka sabihin nyang masyado akong feeling close. I admit that she's too good to be true. Maganda, may sense of humor, matalino, at higit sa lahat may prinsipyo.

I was able to know those things when we had a little chitchat before she left. I still remember how modest she was while handling everything. I checked the calendar hanging on the wall and noticed that it's already Saturday. Ganun pala kabilis ang araw? I wonder if Ahia's going here para sabay na kaming umuwi sa bahay to meet our family.

I was thinking about my plans for today when the doorbell rang, "Coming." I made my way  through the door and opened it.

"Shoti namiss kita," biglang sabi ni Ahia tapos bigla akong niyakap.

"Aba himala ah. Ano nakain mo ngayong breakfast?" tanong ko sakanya tapos sinuntok nya ako ng mahina sa may balikat tapos nagtawanan kami. Bihira lang naman kasi talaga si Ahia magkaroon ng light mood tuwing umaga. Sleepy head kasi kaya kapag gumigising laging may topak.

"Musta Shoti? Anong bago?" tanong nya habang pumapasok sa loob ng bahay. Inilapag din nya yung mga dala nyang pagkain sa table. Seriously?

"Wala namang bago. But I really have a hard time thinking if I should contact Hailey or not," I suddenly blurt out. Why? I like her. Period.

"Hailey? Who the heck is that girl?" Naguguluhang tanong ni Ahia. Wait... Did Ahia just send a stranger home a few days ago?

"Sya yung babaeng dinala mo dito," I explained. "I think you two had a little chitchat?" he asked. I just nodded then smiled. Nagkwento ako kay Ahia about what Hailey told me at nalaman kong nagkita pala sila ulit the day after the incident.

"So alam ba nya na ikaw ang tumulong sa kanya?" I asked. He shrugged. Minsan talaga hindi ko magets si Ahia eh. May mga pagkakataong sobrang kulit. Minsan sobrang seryoso at minsan naman unpredictable. Haaaay. Iba talaga.

"Eh close na kayo?" tapos umiling lang sya. Oo nga pala, first time lang nya ma-meet si Ahia kahapon ng nasa tamang ayos ang pag-iisip. "Edi pwede ko pormahan?" tanong ko ulit na ikinabigla naman ni Ahia.

"Seriously shoti? That fast?" natatawang tanong nya. "Well mas maganda nang medyo mabilis kesa naman mag ala-pagong gaya mo," pang-aasar ko. I know that Ahia has something in his mind about Hailey. Hindi naman yan magkkwento ng ganyan tungkol sa isang babae kung hindi sya interesado. And besides, I know that he has his own priorities. Basketball over love? That's quite insane but knowing my brother, baka magdalawang isip pa sya sa isasagot nya and if that ever happens, I don't want to see Hailey down.

Nag-ayos ako ng gamit tapos dumirecho na kami ni Ahia sa loob ng kotse nya para makauwi na kami ng bahay. Tingin ko, madami akong hindi kailangang ikwento sa kanila.

JERIC'S POV:

Honestly nagulat ako sa sinabi ni Jeron kanina. Popormahan nya si Lei? Well, it's true that Lei's one of a kind. Hindi sya yung tipo ng babae na basta mo na lang mapupulot sa kanto or nagffangirl over what she likes. She has this kind of strong personality outside and a very vulnerable one inside. 

Nagdrive na ako papunta ng bahay namin and silence took place while I was driving. I took a glimpse from Jeron and I just saw him looking at the mirror while his earphones are on his ears. I just continued driving and fixed my eyes on the way.

A part of me doesn't want Jeron to handle Lei. Parang naiinis nga ako eh at hindi ko alam kung bakit. Is this what they call jealousy? I just smiled with my own thought. No, that can't be. I still have my dreams to fulfill and I don't want my other interest to ruin it.

Who would have thought? I would still choose basketball over love.
